Tried out morrowind and understand what you guys mean

Seen so many talk about the quest log of Skyrim so I bought the morrowind during chrismas sales ($5). So far it is quite fun, while the interaction is a bit clumsy compare to lot of modern game, but the quest really give a really detailed information. such as "Go right up the stairs from the front door, then left at the top of the stairs and down to the end of the street." and the "don't go out the door from top floor to terrace" quite surprised how much fun it give. the road sign for traveling also give a really good guidance too.

but also give me wonder can future Elder scroll give such fine details in game. Not only it have to put down very details direction in written form, also need to do extra and longer voice acting on the dialogue. Also with Skyrim scale i think it is much harder to find balance for the number of content to number of details.

lately I am wonder is the modern game voice acting and animation are killing the current game industry. While it improve game experience greatly, it also caused a much bigger time required in development.

While Voice Acting is good...I can't help but wonder if they could do more with the game with the occasional voice, but bring back speech, or would that just feel inorganic and a step back towards the Face-to-face conversation system.

this would have been awesome if they implemented it in Skyrim. It's not necessary to have the info fo finding the quest target as spoken dialog but it could have been writing in the quest jornal/log, perhaps...

I, myself, have disabled the compass and questmarkers on the map but is usig the floating markers in-game. The floating markers isn't shown until you're close to the quest target. You know in which city/place your quest target is/are but you need to look for it, you don't instantly know the right location...

The directions were nice in town, but there were times in Morrowind where you had to find something outside. One time I had to find a cave entrance on the mosrt Northern shore and it took me all day to find it. Sometimes the Morriwind way is a hassle. At least with Skyrim you can always turn off the quest tracker.

i think this is a bit of how do future game being evolved. with current game like skyrim, assassin creed, far cry. it is quite obvious that voice acting and animation become essential for game. but some game seem to be worse than 10 years ago
