So I tried this role-playing that everyone keeps talking abo

I hear people arguing a lot over whether Skyrim is a great game for roleplaying or not, so I decided to give it a try...

I took Lydia with me and I went over to the Winking Skeever in Solitude, we had an appointment with the steward in Solitude and well...that′s not really part of the story so I'll skip that. Anyway so we went in to the Winking Skeever and I told her to sit down and wait right there. So then I went out and over to Radiant Raiment and got an outfit and dressed up as a bard. I went back to the Winking Skeever and pretended I was just there to have a drink and eventually I made my way over to Lydia and engaged her in conversation, trying to act like we were complete strangers that just met. So I was like "Hey, you come here often?" and "I am from Riften, I am only in Solitude for the burning of the king festival...and...I′ve got a room here at the Winking Skeever for the night..."

But Lydia really didn′t play along at all, she was like "What do you want from me my Thane?" and "Do you want me to carry your stuff?". I am like "No...no, you′re not supposed to act like I am your Thane, I am a bard and you′ve never met me before!". But no, she didn′t get it at all and eventually I just gave up.

So, from my experience, Skyrim doesn't allow for role-playing at all, it was really a big disappointment, I was hoping to spice things up and I was totally let down.

To me, "Role-Playing" simply means playing a certain way. For example, my current character is a Baldur's Gate styled Cleric. This means I play with certain rules and pritorities in mind (i.e. will not touch conjuration or destruction, banned from bladed weapons, prioritizes quests at temples, perk toward vs. undead bonuses, and so on and so forth). To me, role-playing doesn't mean actually trying to act out something in a play and hope all the world's NPC's respond appropriately, because that kind of technology just isn't available yet.

So, you had problems picking up a woman up in a bar? See, this game does let you recreate a realistic experience.

Yeah...I can get one of those Forsworn outfits for Lydia and some monk robes for myself...and then she comes to the temple of the divines to receive the blessing of Zenithar...

That`s NOT what we mean when we say `role playing` and I think you know. But just incase you don`t that`s not what we mean.

Edit... Yea, thought this wa sarcasm.

Easiest way to pick up a woman in a bar is Telekinesis.

Have you tried stopping by the temple of Dibella? They might be more open to your suggestions.

Next time you dress as a bard, try singing some Barry White.

I had a gf like that once.

I made her stand on a trap trigger until she died. Took forever.

I tried something similar the other day in my car, wearing a safety helmet and a leather suit, calling myself Schumacker... But my car didn't play along either. It stayed a Mitzubishi 1.3 Colt and never turned into a Formel-1 racer.

At least it wasn't labeled a Formel-1 racer when I bought it.

I tell ya man, love in Skyrim is tough. I was gonna let Lydia carry my burder, if you know what I mean *wink*, but I got a little too excited and yelled FUS! and that was pretty much the end of the romance. Now she's upstairs sitting in the bedroom and I'm picking up all the pots and pans that were scattered around the house.
