Troubles with the Forum?

Post » Wed Dec 11, 2013 12:03 am

Over the past few days I've noticed a lot of the posting functions on the forum aren't working properly, especially quoting members' posts which comes up blank whenever I click on the quote button. Creating links also doesn't seem to be working as it should do. Is there some technical troubles with the forum?

I had one similar problem recently reported with regard to quotes in PMs. Anyone else seeing problems like this?

Earlier I was having even more problems. I just managed to paste some important data to try to get some help with a problem. Before that it was refusing to both paste anything or even to do bold or italic text! On the other hand, other forums I belong to seem to be working a-okay. It's only the Beth forums I'm having troubles with.

I don't use the rich text editor and haven't seen this problem. Does the problem go away when using the plain text editor?

No problems here...Firefox 25.0.1, WinXPsp3.

Can't think of anything else that may be relevant but if something comes to mind ask.

I've been using the non-friendly BBCode default for a few days now because of the quoting issue. Either a blank box will appear or the text will explode in size, and the entire quote will reformat.

To this day, I still don't know how to split apart a person's quote without entering BBCode mode.

Only problems I have had have been with PM's not sending everything, it seems that if I'm sending links PM's will often cut any text after the last link I sent. And then I've had problems with the mobile version sometimes having blurry letters after loading or with the posts not aligning themselves properly, but usually a refresh fixes those.

I haven't been able to quote with the regular method on my computers. I have to choose that (BBC Code? Shows the code like url and studd) other one.

Can't quote properly (quote box just says 'quote'), link box don't work (but fine if you manually type '[url=...etc.') and post box is very often greyed out, and have to refresh to be able to post at all. Mind you, I'm one of that peculiar little minority who uses Safari for everyday surfing.

I've been doing exactly the same thing and have the same problems. Thought it was just me, glad I'm not the only one (although I'm not happy anyone else is having problems if you see what I mean)

Having trouble linking to Steam (photo library). Also when click on links, some appear broken.

Quotes are not working for me.

Didn't think much of it at the time but using the quick reply I would quote someone with multi-lined sentences. I would highlight the top line and delete but the whole quote would be deleted instead. Had to do it by hand to keep the partial intact. Minor annoyance but might be related.

This is using Win 8.1 OS FF 25.0.1 Browser

The only problem I'm having lately is when I highlight areas in my post like if I want to add something into it, only to have the highlight appear again if I use the left arrow key and when I start typing again everything starts getting deleted. Using the space bar has the same result except it only goes one space to the right and won't go any further, which would be inconvenient if I want to add spaces between words in my post. I'm not sure if this is on my end or not, but I don't remember having this kind of problem before and I've done some highlighting in the past as well.. I'll experiment with this when I want to post in another thread and see if it keeps happening.

I'm using the same thing as Azuron.

This software has issues on Firefox. Paragraphs are commonly displayed as unbroken blocks of text; indents don't work as expected. Emoticons cannot be placed inside parenthesis; and the software mangles multiple quotes by erroneously attempting to "fix" them if there is any error in the block structure... like a typo; rather than simply not working; breaking at the error, it adds quote tags and makes the error far more difficult to find and correct.

The Blank quote text in the editor can often be repopulated by pressing CTRL Z [Windows / Firefox] with the cursor in the edit box.

There is an issue where IE11 doesn't work properly with the RTE. Not sure if that's been fixed, though.

It seems that some of the problems reported are already known, Admin are working on them and there will possibly be an update of the software at some stage. For now please just soldier on. :)

Ajax, not the browser, is at fault here.

Too many bells and whistles, in my opinion.

I'm curious if people even use most of them.
