Truely amazing work

Good job making an entire game then forgetting it doesn't run at all for a lot of pc users. Maybe instead of cutting corners for more of a profit, you should at least make an attempt to try it on an average joe's computer. Now I know I'm no computer genious or anything, and I don't know what all they did to test the game out, but come on, it seems like at least half of pc gamers can't even play the 60 dollar game they bought, that kind of indicates that they screwed up somewhere along the line and they should man up and truely fix it.

You're compaining because you aren't a computer genius.

Driver problems that plague RAGE are out of the reach for ID, they can't do anything about it just help with identifying bugs and wait.

Bethesda is gathering RAGE feedback and transferring it to GPU vendors, ID is doing internal tests as well as patching on the game's side, other than that's it's up to GPU drivers.

Consoles have engineering advantage over PC - developers have greater touch with the machine while PC is separated with may layers of code from the hardware.

You can also cut a shortcut to http://forums.amd.com/game/categories.cfm?catid=260&entercat=y and your feedback will be digested faster.

When you are a computer genuis, this is way easier, you become patient, and you know how to fix things for your self, and you also understand why is PC more practical than a console in the long run.

You just have to be a computer geek to use this platform efficiently, that's what it takes for being a superior platform in almost every aspect except accessibility obviously.

Carmack says that GPU drivers and so many different memory architectures are the biggest setback for development on PC. He want's to write low level code for the game's application that directly affects GPU without the need of the middleman , that basically means carmack wants to write his own drivers for the GPUs not waiting for someone else that doesn't know exactly how the game works to be doing some patch-ins once a month.

Sounds iinteresting that he basically goes all public with this , that basically invalids everything that happend with the GPU wars with frames per second, it's really everything else BUT frames per second, FPS were always high enough for both companies to achieve playable status, anything more than 125 fps is useless.

It was all commercial stuff , "oh nvidia can run crysis 10 fps faster it must be better company", it's just drivers and nvidia put a lot of effort to help optimize games with dedicated work for free with the exchange of the company promo logo

While in reality nvidia just got a big really devoted fan bandwagon who had noidea how drivers work, with little clue that every time ATI released it's card it was many times the best, ATI was only behind in from X to HD3xxx days, that was 2 generations of Radeon chips only , HD2 and HD3 are actually the same generation.
