Trying to decide which platform to buy skyrim for.

Post » Tue May 08, 2012 7:03 am

I'm not sure what system to buy it for, my Xbox or my PC.

I know the load times for Oblivion where terrible on XBox and I never want to experience that again. I'm not sure if Skyrim will have the same issue.

My biggest make or break issue for the Xbox would be whether or not there would be a way to get custom mods for the Xbox version. If not, I think I'll buy the PC version.

Decisions decisions...

I'm sort of in the same boat, but am trying to decide whether to buy a ps3 or xbox.

I'd ask for advice, but it would probably turn into a console war lol.

Mods are a PC exclusive aspect of the game, and the only reason I still occasionally go back to my Oblivion character, and why I will be coming back to Skyrim for years to come.

Graphics and performance as well as load times are, of course, going to be significantly better on PC as well.

Heck, you can even use a game pad (xbox 360, PS3, any number of razer or logitech ones) to play the game. For someone witha gaming PC there really is no reason to choose console.

Now that I think about it, I think it might be more than just mods. With the XBox I can resell the game once I'm done. I'm also concerned about there being more bugs on the PC version than there would be on the Xbox.
Then again, this game probably seams easier to play with a keyboard and mouse than a controller. But man, I'm thinking there's going to be some really nice improvements on the game via mods.

Well, at least I have another 19 hours to make up my mind.

I'm sorry, but you can't be a PC gamer in this day and age and "not like Steam".

What is this 1999? Are people still hating on the platform that keeps PC gaming not just alive and well, but growing?

You're worrying over what platform you're going to get it on, because with the xbox 360 version you'll get $5-$10 off your next game?

As for more bugs, Did you play the last 3 Bethesda games? All of them were buggy on console AND PC. But in the case for Fallout 3 ANd Specially NEw Vegas, the PC was a heck of a lot less buggier.

And the PC version is easier to patch. almost all devs patch the Pc version fo games first and more often simply because they don't have to go through the whole MS/PSN process.

Why do you hate origin? I actually love EA for making origin instead of using a 3rd party such as Skyrim will be by needing steam to play a game.

Honestly, Steam > XBLive, and Steam > PS Network. I don't like Steam, but its a better alternative to M$ or Sony controlling what you do with YOUR hardware.

With all of the pros and cons being floated lately, at this point I think you're better off deciding by coin toss. Each system has it's own advantages, and none of us can tell you which is more important to you.

Going ps3 myself.

With Steam, can I download the same copy of the game to another PC? That would make the game a lot more portable for me. That way I could just email my saved files to my self and be good to go when I'm using a different computer.

You should buy the game for Xbox. It's alot more convenient sitting in a nice sofa playing it with a controller in your hand. I always feel uncomfortable sitting for long periods in front of my computer with my arms stretched and what not.

I also feel more "into" the game on console. Dunno why.

The thing is, I don't have a sofa. I'm in college and figured that sense I don't watch TV a sofa would be a waste of money. So basically my Xbox is hooked up to my PC monitor and I play both systems from the same chair. So the sofa aspect doesn't really count for me.

The PC has and always will be superior to the consoles, so if you want superior gameplay and modding available over a controller, then go with PC.

Both are identical to one another, however 360 is a bit cheaper I believe. I play on PS3 because I prefer the controller size and shape. If money is expendable to a point, go with PS3 (they have gotten much cheaper since released). If you want to stay on the cheap side, go with X360

Yes that should be doable. Obviously you can only be logged into steam on one machine at a time though

I would councel you PC.
Greater textures and others goodies in the visual side.

More flexible game as modder will kick in.

If you not unconfortable with PC and have a near recomended specs PC, this i would recomend PC version, i guarantee it will pay off.

You can hook up your pc to your tv and do the same thing. It amazes me that many player cite using a controller and playing on the couch as reason to choose console over pc, or they cite very exaggerated costs. Many people are not well informed about pc gaming.
Console exclusives are a good reason to get a console, playing with a controller, etc is not.

I myself play on pc and I don't sit upright in front of it, I don't know how other pc players do that its so uncomfortable. I have a set up were my feet are on the end of my couch and I am leaned back in my chair, its basically the same position I would be on the couch.
My wrist and arms are fully supported as well in this position, no strain.
