Trying to find an easy way to High Hrothgar, but....

Hello,
For anyone else who have experience on Skyrim, I've got a huge problem. On the map I don't think I have that one town that's just south of the mountainous area where that whole bunch of steps start, to lead up to High Hrothgar, and I'm not exactly sure where I need to go. (love the game though. I can't even put it down, lol....with the exception of the times I take a break from it, haha.) I'm annoyed I can't find out where to get to High Hrothgar. I know one town where I need to, but I can't speed-warp (or whatever it's called) my way there. I don't have it placed on the map where I CAN just warp there. I have to actually get on my horse to actually RIDE there, and that could take me awhile, depending on if anyone can help me out there. BUMMER !!

You're in the wrong forums, but the way I have always taken is just to go to Whiterun and run around the mountain, takes a bit, but you'll get there. Another way to do it is to take a carriage to Riften and just talk from there.

This probably belongs in the Skyrim Forums. This is for TESO, not Skyrim. I think your looking for Ivarstead though. Take a carriage (or fast travel) to Riften and begin following the lake all the way to the end. You'll find Ivarstead there.

Fast Travel to Helgen. Travel around the outside of the wall and head west through the mountain pass. Once you start seeing fall foliage, start heading north-west. Boom

No, you can't fast travel there because you haven't been there yet. This isn't a High Hrothgar thing or an Ivarstead thing, you can't fast travel to ANY locations that you haven't already been to at least once. That's how the game works. As others have already noted if it's that big of a PITA to walk/ride from Whiterun to Ivarstead then take the carriage to Riften and walk back from there. Altho TBH I don't think you're saving much in the way of time or energy by doing that.

So... I guess you just have to find your way to Ivarstead and then cross the stone bridge and start the mountain stair trail right in front of you. That's the only way to get there. They say it's 7,000 steps (although it's actually less but that's not hardly the point).

Patience, my young padawan! :) Also enjoy your time in Ivarstead - some pretty cool quests there!

Honestly the journey from Whiterun to Ivarstead feels shorter to me than walking there from Riften, maybe because I've already been over a good bit of it after leaving Helgen. Assuming I go back up through Riverwood and over the mountains from there. There is another pass over the mountains from the road going east out of Whiterun that might be quicker. Either way I think I just like the mountain terrain more.
