Tsunami Incoming. Wish us luck.

Post » Sun Oct 28, 2012 10:34 pm

Well Hawaii has another Tsunami headings its way. It is supposed to hit in about an hour. A 7.7 Earthquake has generated a wave off Alaska and most of the force is heading our way. Might be bad. Probably not too bad, but you never know. I am on a mountain so I am fine at least, just waiting for my gf to get back from the other side of the island...little bit concerned.

Anyways, wish us luck!

Good luck. I hope it doesn't end it up hurting anyone, or not many people at least.

Full power it is! :shocking: :swear: :obliviongate: I'm swearing at the engines to get it to work, all good engineers do that right? I've also opened a gate to Oblivion to harness its raw energies to bring our shields back online! Also while I was down there I brought up some guns and flamethrowers to use against the Tsunami. :gun: :gun: :flamethrower: :flamethrower: it doesn't stand a chance.

Great...my gf is stuck.

Our police are idiots. They are turning people back along the main road and not directing them anywhere else.

I lived in Hilo, very glad I'm not still there for this. Most of the time the waves were coming from the West or from the Southeast while I lived there, so it was never much of a problem in Hilo. But coming from the Northeast? Hilo bay could get hit pretty hard.

The main issue is that the waves that hit Hawaii from the West or Southeast are usually a backlash as opposed to direct force based on the tectonic movements direction. So they were reduced force tsunamis. Most of that force usually was directed at the Andes Mountains or Japan and southeast Asia. This time the force is directed towards Hawaii directly. They are estimating 8 footers. Which means an 8 foot wall of water that will keep on coming. Probably will be minimal loss of life but there could be significant property damage. Hell my workplace might be totally trashed. It is on the Nort side of the Island just several hundred yards from Hanolei bay. Flat ground too. Not good.

There are several aftershocks too so this tsumani could last days. Which would make it much more damaging and potentially deadly.

@Blackhand, ain't it a B? How many tsunami are we gonna get in a couple years?! At least the last couple were very minor for us. This one may be worse. Hell the entire drug scene on Kauai is mostly based on the North so I suppose it will do some good/bad.

Sirens are going off Mirglof. Ewa beach is on the south though. However waves do wrap around the island. Might be worth giving her a call.

Luckily Hilo was very smart about rebuilding after the 1960 Tsunami. Basically everything that was destroyed was turned into grassy park, rather than rebuilding somewhere that is clearly at risk in a tsunami. Though there is definitely some beachfront property that will have a very bad time in anything above 5-6 feet.
