Wow. I actually somewhat like that. I didn't even know that there was a decent one out there.

Anyways, it requires FOSE, so we're going to have to wait until NVSE is released in order for someone to even get started on it.

This. Also note that the release of NVSE is wholly dependent on how evil Steam wishes to be towards the modding community. Steam usually does not approve of modded .exe files thus the impossibility of making Fallout use over 2gigs of ram as doing so requires a modification to the .exe. More specifically anyone who tries to play via a modded .exe will get the modded .exe replaced with the original unmodded .exe. If I remember correctly the steam edition of Fallout 3 never received FOSE, can anyone confirm this?

If this from the readme is anything to go by,
FOSE supports these versions of Fallout 3 (from either a retail DVD or Steam)

then I imagine the Steam version was supported. I think they just had to negotiate with Valve in order to do so. So it'll be the same case as that.

Also, there's a utility out on the Nexus now for New Vegas that allows it to use more than 2GB without interfering with Steam. You can find it http://www.newvegasnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=35262.

Fallout 3 didn't use Steam DRM, instead using Games for Windows Live and SecureROM disk check (in the Fallout3 Launcher). The retail disk install and the steam install exes were identical and unencrypted. There was nothing we had to do to get FOSE to work with Steam. Oblivion also wasn't encrypted by default. However, when Oblivion GOTY was released on Steam we needed (and received) support from Valve for OBSE.

This past weekend we pinged Valve about this issue. I expect they'll be supportive of the process, as all of our changes are in-memory, and not as part of the exe itself. The fact that they were willing to provide identical support for OBSE speaks well for our chances (in my opinion.) We'll keep everyone informed in the http://www.gamesas.com/index.php?/topic/1127320-wipz-new-vegas-script-extender-nvse/ and on the http://nvse.silverlock.org/.

I'm glad to hear that NVSE can become a possibility. It's so infinitely useful to a modder.

I have even better news. We've gotten the support we need from Valve and are moving towards a release. We have functionality to implement and need to wait for Bethesda/Obsidian to settle down with the patches. But we are generally in business.

Sorry for posting again but i didnt wanna make a new thread.
So instead of making the whole thing turn-based, one could make it so that after you enter VATS and spend your AP's your enemies now have a chance to spend their AP's. After they did that you will exit VATS like normal. This means that VATS cannot be abused as much anymore and it will be much more fun.

Wow, cool to see Valve keeping up support for modding communities, even for games that aren't made by Valve :)

I would love to see this done, make fallout 3 and new vegas the way it should be! I always thought that there should have been real time battle and fallout 1 and 2 type battling.
