TWILIGHT

Post » Sat May 12, 2012 3:37 pm

Okay, it's just about time. I've seriously had enough. I HAVE HAD ENOUGH.
Every single Vampire balance thread has been completely derailed by a bunch of IDIOTS that INSIST on comparing this game to Twilight. Let me get just one thing straight: Skyrim is not Twilight.

We do not want Twilight vampires in Skyrim. We do not want to be incredibly powerful with no downsides! What we WANT is a vampire system that is fair, fun, and challenging, that also makes sense and has reasonable upsides and downsides!

This OBSESSION with a book series that most of you are only hating on for purely aesthetic reasons! Hell, I doubt most of you have even read them! I have, they're not that good, but they're not so insanely RAGE worthy as you seem to think they are!

Please, Please, PLEASE leave anything about Twilight out of further Vampire discussions? It is neither here nor there. All we want is a fun experience, and your insane troll logic is ruining our chances of getting that.

Please. And thanks.

Um, why did you create a thread for this? NO Skyrim is not Twilight. I think everyone knows that. But most of the vamp threads I've seen involve OP describing their ideal vampire experience as if they want to play a vampire from Twilight.

I agree. Vampires should follow Nosferatu. It's a classic and the origin of most modern myth.

They have been nothing of the sort. I, having actually READ the twilight novels, know this. Wanna know what I want? Here, i'll post part of the desc of one of the oldest and most used vampire mods from oblivion, owned by the amazing Kyoshi.

I didn't really like the original Oblivion vampires, so I came up with something I enjoyed a bit more. New Vampires are based loosely on modern age myths of the vampire. (ie: Anne Rice, World of Darkness... etc).
This is a lite description for folks who want to discover things on their own. A precise description of all the features will follow at the end.
Time Based Advancement (older = stronger)
"Traditional" Vampire Powers
Blood Cravings
Unlockable Vampire Powers
Appearance/NPC Reaction changes based on fed status
Resist Sunlight under appropriate circumstances.

Vampire Age
There are five age levels, advancement through them is based on time.
Age Level 1 - 7 days to Advance
Age Level 2 - 30 days to Advance
Age Level 3 - 180 days to Advance
Age Level 4 - 360 days to Advance
Vampire Powers
Basic attribute packages for each of the various vampire levels, with emphasis on physical attributes.
Regeneration (increases with age)
Sun Vulnerability (variable)
Fire Damage Vulnerability
Disease Resistance (100)
Water Breathing (dead things don't need to breathe)
Resist Normal Weapons (at older stages of unlife)
Hardened Skin (at older stages of unlife)
Frost Resistance (at older stages of unlife)
Fatigue and Magicka regeneration (at older stages of unlife)
Paralysis Resistance (at older stages of unlife
Mesmerising Gaze - Charm
Night Stalker - Chameleon
Paralysing Gaze - Paralyse
Terrifying Countenance - Demoralize
Will of the Undead - Command Humanoid, Command Animal
Shroud of Shadows - Chameleon
Vampiric Suggestion - Will force the NPC to sleep for one minute. They will sleep in any nearby beds if possible, ability will do nothing if there are no beds nearby. Combat or any interaction will interrupt the AI package.
Blood Craving / Starvation
Required to drink blood to survive, each age level has different craving levels (the younger you are the more often you need to drink blood). If you don't drink blood as often as required, suffer consequences.
Age Level 1 - Once per day
Age Level 2 - Once per two days
Age Level 3 - Once per week
Age Level 4 - Once per two weeks
Age Level 5 - Once per month
Starvation Consequences
The consequences start off small and increase over time, if you continue to ignore the needs of your vampiric condition.
Fatigue Drain
Appearance/NPC Reaction change
Increased Fire Vulnerability
Personality Penalty
Increased Sun Vulnerability
Normal Weapon Vulnerability
Unlockable Powers
Four unlockable powers, unlocked by drinking blood. Drink enough blood and eventually gain these powers.
Scent of Blood - Toggleable power (Detect Life)
Eye of the Hunter - Toggleable power (Night-eye)
Power Of Blood - Temporary physical stat increases (higher level version available at older stages of unlife)
Mortis Shield - Temporary armour increase (higher level version available at older stages of unlife)
Feeding & Sun Damage
Starting at Age Level 2, you can go out in the sun for brief periods of time after feeding. The amount of time you can spend in the sun increases as you age.
Age Level 2 - Two hours
Age Level 3 - Three hours
Age Level 4 - Four hours
Age Level 5 - Five hours

Essentially THAT is what i want...just for basics. That's ignoring the full vampire questlines that we had in Morrrowind and they seem to have forgotten about in Skyrim...

I like the classic Dracula vampire personally, but i'm GLAD that TES has their own system of vampires... I am so sick of Twilight's perversion of classic vampire tropes (and I have a feeling the TES creators are as well).. If you want to play a twilight vampire, go play a twilight game, or create/use a mod.. Don't complain here, because while you mayt not be happy, you aren't considering the tons of other people who are satisfied with Vampirism in this game.. Simply put, if you don't like TES' vampire system, don't become a vampire.

I want Twilight vampires in Skyrim. Angst-filled 200 year old sparkly virgins are my fetish.

While I sympathize with you, I have to state the obvious: You, sir, have been trolled.
