Two characters?

Hi! Im in a really awkward situation. Ive not been able to find a character that I enjoy playing Skyrim with for months (for that reason Ive still only completed the college of winterhold questline and no other major one). Now all of a sudden Im having two characters getting off the starting block and I can't decide between them. And I think that no matter what choice I do, I will one day end up thinking about the other one and how cool it would be to play him.

1. A female Nord. She looks beautiful and I really enjoy being her, but her innocent look makes it feel wrong to play the darker questlines.
2. A male dunmer. He looks cool and I believe him doing the evil questlines and it just feels as he is a real character.

The problem is whenever I play the girl Im feeling like I don't really behave like she would behave. While when I play the dunmer I miss her.

Now I thought about maybe playing both simultaneously. But then Im not sure if I can really do this. If I'd do it, then I'd have to make them have different playstyles of course. My dunmer definetly has to be a thief that does not rely on any crafting, magic or gods at all but only his own skills. He is not the typical evil character, he is just a thief. He doesn't want bigger power, he doesn't want responsibility. He will never be seduced by power or kill for fun, he is just seeing it as his job.
My Nord, in contrast, I always connect with faith, destiny and seducement by power. She's searching for a reason in her life and wants to be strong enough to stand her own and defend the ones she loves. She is the character that I want to play the main quest and also the Dark Brotherhood questline with because the DB is always something special for me in Elder Scrolls games and I can't play it with a character that does it just for the money, but I also can't do it with one that is insane and has no real reason for doing what he does. But how do I create a character that is suited to the brotherhood as well as the main quest and thereby, isn't a stealthy thief like my dark elf?
I was thinking about making her curious about necromancy to save the ones she loves or loved. But I did this in Oblivion too and I don't know if I should do it again. So Im thinking about making her more of a mage, but then again I already did this with a female breton until I got bored. But maybe that will change if I have two characters? Then again, Im no friend of robes and Im not sure if I can do it with just magic, no weapons.

Other problems are that with my dunmer, I would not have that many things to do. He can join the Thieves Guild, he can go on his own burglaries, but what else? He wouldn't join the Companions, nor the College of Winterhold, and the Brotherhood and Main Questline would be "reserved" for my other character. I can imagine him doing the Dawnguard side of the DLC though.

Do you think this whole "two character thingy" could work? Or should I rather make one character that has the complete freedom of doing whatever I want?

It's difficult.

I play two characters at the moment, a Dunmer who's just out to make money (much like yours!) and a khajiit who just wants to find somewhere to settle down.

I've had up to four characters at once before though, and yeah, sometimes it is a bit of a challenge to keep their personalities apart, but that's why I keep notes.

For things to do, look beyond the questlines. My Dunmer spent the first week out of Helgen just roaming Skyrim, barely ever stopping into towns. Likewise my Khajiit snuck into Whiterun most nights to steal gold for Skooma. Personally, I find the quests quite limiting, but I roleplay pretty heavily.

Perhaps your Dunmer could have an interest in Dwemer ruins, and would spend a lot of time searching them out. For example.

Just play one and then play the other after you are done with your first. That usually works for me.

Hey, this is off topic, but is there a Skyrim equivalent to your character thing in your signature.

Thats the kind of playstyle Im searching for too, its just that after a while I get bored and dont really know what I should do next.

I thought about this too but I don't want a character that I can be just "done" with. Also, Im changing my mind on how I want to play this game quite often. One day I want to be the sneaky thief, the other a powerful mage.

Sadly not yet, the author of the elderstats page planned to do it for the release of Skyrim but he gave up because of the lack of support. However, recently he announced that he started working on a Skyrim template again, but I don't know how long it will take.
