So does this DLC have two separate routes to chose from like DG (vamp or DG)? I have one character all ready to go into DB, but if there are other options like DG had I will need to start a new character asap.

AFAIK, no. You're Dragonborn. That's your path.

No there is only one path but you can start it in different ways, one on the Island and one in the Skyrim cities
