Unable to install from DVD

Before I get into my issue, I did do some searching & while I found posts about the issue, no real solutions, if I've missed something please point me in that direction.

So I recently bought a brand new laptop basically so I could play Skyrim & X-Com. Specs wise it should be more than capable. Apparently I can't post links but if you Google NP550P5C-S08AU that's my laptop.

I ordered the premium edition of Skyrim from a retailer here in Aus & when I went to install it this evening, I get a lot of weird noises from the disc drive but nothing else. The drive works fine with other DVDs & BluRays but Skyrim it doesn't even recognise, it almost sounds like the disc isn't seated properly even though it is.

I have an extremely old laptop that's 1/2 dead & would never be capable of running the game, but the DVD drive still works & when I put Skyrim in that laptop the splash screen comes up straight away with install options. So it seems the disc isn't faulty either.

So basically my question is how do I fix this? Is it even possible to fix it?

Now I've seen people saying just activate it in steam & download it. That's all well & good but I bought the physical game & I want to be able to use it. Also I don't have the Internet at home (currently posting from my phone) so while I could go to a mates place that's not ideal & again, I paid for a disc, not a download, I want to be able to use it.

Any help would be greatly appreciated. Cheers -TSM
