» Sat Dec 15, 2012 1:08 am I've been having a very strange problem. I am not able to join the Dark Brotherhood due to some strange conflict. I was wondering if anyone here could help me find a way to overcome this as I find the DB questline quite interesting.
So here is what is happening.

The problem starts with the fact that I do never get the random rumour about Aventus Arentino trying to contact the DB. I used to get it from the barkeep in Sleeping Giant in Riverwood, but not now. This is not game breaking as I know where to look for him. If I go to Windhelm and contact him, he gives me the quest and "Innocence lost" initiates as intended. When I kill Grelod and come back to him, he rewards me with that plate and the quest is finished. And that is it. I never get the courier with the message from the DB. No matter how long or where I wait, he never comes. So, well, I used the console to promote the quest. I used: "SetStage DBEntranceQuest 20". That spawns the courier right away. When I go to sleep I wake up in that shack with Astrid giving me the new quest. She tells me to kill one of the victims and "With friends like these" is initiated. When I do kill the target(s), nothing happens. Astrid is still sitting there and when I approach, she only says: "Brother". It is impossible to initiate dialogue with here. The door is locked and there is no way out. The DB02 quest is stuck at "30". I tried to advance it with the console to the next stage, which resulted in a change in my Journal which now read that I should go to the sanctuary and contained the password I should use. The problem is, I still do not have the key to the shack. "Unlock" command solves that and I get to the sanctuary (it still is not marked on the map). When I get there, it is impossible to activate the door. When I try, nothing happens. Nothing at all. And so, here comes the console again. I tried to set the stage of DB02 to 40, then 50 and then 200 which should effectively finish the "with the friends like these" quest. The door still does not answer, though. So I coc'ed to the DarkBrotherhoodSanctuary cell. Astrid is not here, though. Gods know where she is and without here, I cannot get the next quest. That Redguard guy does not give me any assignment.

I'm kind of stuck and have no idea what to do.
I tried to disable all the mods I have but the bug persists. It seems that whatever any mod did it damaged the quest in a bad way. Now I have no mod that would directly change the DB questline.
Does anyone have any idea what might have gone awry and what could be done now? I would really like my character to join the DB.
Any help would be appreciated.
