Unarmored play through

Post » Wed Jun 13, 2012 7:01 pm

I wanted to put this past you guys and see what you think. A build that only wears clothing, uses alteration, illusion, one-handed.

no sneak, because I know you can run around naked with a dagger if your sneak is high enough. I'm thinking of this build to be a stand up fighter.

Dual Casting Ebonyflesh gives you 300 armor rating for three minutes, plus The Lord stone you're sitting at 350 AR. Something to keep in mind, if you get the Necromage perk and become a Vampire, you can most likely cap your armor rating with no armor whatsoever.

Plus, Illusion makes every fight a joke. Your build is definitely plausible, and sounds like fun. Good luck!

I tried it and it and alteration armor works just fine but I was also ranged only and didn't get hit too often. Illusion makes you untouchable (especially after you get master of the mind) though so it doesn't really matter what armor your wearing.

I was thinking of making a magic warrior that used only bound weapons and summoned armor but it sounds like it could me more tedious than cool. Report back if melee + mage armor ends up being a cool build.

my friend's son was playing the other day when I was over, I noticed he was having difficulty with a level. He knew I had Skyrim and asked for my help so I took the controls and wow.

Turns out he went into a crypt the only way out was forward. He went in with regular clothes, 2 health potions and not much else of use. There was nothing I could do. He was lv 29 with primary health and magic. Those Falmor tore him apart. Within like 2-3 hits he was dead. After 5-6 attempts he went to get something to drink so I quickly reloaded one of his earlier saves lol.

I'm am sure it could be fun if you spent MOST of your time invested in magic. Otherwise with no armor rating on your clothes... you WILL get destroyed haha

Most likely I would recommend Magic, preferably alteration for armor, Otherwise good luck getting 1 hitted to death.

I basically did the same thing except I dual wielded Scimitars, and was dressed Alik'r style.

I love playing clothes-only.

I do grab alteration, but I find that I usually can deal with enemies before they can get to me. It's called planning. ;) (And kiting.)

Hmmm... Thanks guys, I may do this build without illusion if it's going to be too OP.

I miss the Unarmed/Uarmored Monks from Morrowind. Those guys were a major pain at lower levels, but at higher levels were quite capable of handling anything in the game.

I've done this myself, although I wasn't using armor spells, and it's quite viable, even on Master. I didn't use One-Handed, though, as the character was a 'pure' mage.

On higher difficulties Illusion is vital for this play style, since the idea is to keep them away from you at all costs. I used Conjuration as well, since Illusion has coverage issues until you get Master of the Mind, which requires 90 skill. I used Paralyze a lot too, since the only opponents it doesn't work on are Dragons and it's not subject to level limits. You do need high Alteration to get it, though.

I actually recommend not using Sneak (or at least not perking it), as stacking it with Illusion makes combat a complete joke.

That's kind of what I'm planning.

Well if you like illusion then it sounds like a good build tbh.

Illusion can be strong, the master spell mayhem is arguably the strongest spell in the game as a vampire when perked, it affects everything. But if your just running around punching people, it's nice if they are attacking each other as well as you, takes the heat off you a little.

Dragons will be tough though ha.
