Undead saying thank you

Post » Wed Jun 13, 2012 5:50 am

Hey, just a little post to point out something that surprised me recently.

I had just fallen in a poacher's pit and saw an unfortunate generic high elf victim (plain clothes, not a Thalmor) along with a deer impaled on the spikes at the bottom. Wanting to "release" the victim from being impaled in the spikes eternally I raised him as an undead and then led him down the passage a bit and then thunderbolted him to ashes to release him.

On his death I was quite shocked to hear him say in a gravelly voice "Thank youuuu". I hadn' t heard another raised dead say anything apart from "must kill", or "ughhh" or similar to that so the timing for this new saying was just perfect.
(Did the same for the deer but it just stared at me with black eyes until it became ashes)

Yeap, I haven't heard "At last" or anything else when they die. I do hear the various other utterances they say while attacking or walking along.

Sometimes, when Dragons attack a city or village and guards come to help, one guard starts emitting undead sounds. That's really creepy. And you never know what REALLY is beneath those helmets...

Hahaha, Permanently bound undead as city guards sounds like a good idea. Sort of like the bonewalkers in Morrowind's tombs

There was a in depth discussion about this in a thread started a couple of months ago. The OP was saddened by the fact that they called out upon their "redeath" (if that is actually a word). It made them feel so horrible, they swore to never use Necromancy again. It just fueled my passion for it.

It was then we realized that there were several comments by the undead.

It seems like there was one that is on the lines of "Release me"... or something. This is not at death, but actually an idle comment when you are close to them. Something other than uugghhh.

The Subjugated Ghosts in Rannveig's Fast apologize continuously while they try to kill you. It's like, "Oh, god, I'm sorry. *stab* I'm so, so sorry. *slash* Please, I can't control my actions. *hack* Stay away from me! *cleave*" I felt so guilty for killing them. But, hey, at least now they can find peace in Sovngarde, right?

I have heard of release me before, it was a bit creepy yes. I'll try to find that thread.

I came across those ghosts but they are bit different i suppose to reanimated bodies. Still rather cool

I just spent a half hr digging for that thing and had no luck.

Yes the Ghosts are different. And I would probably be careful about giving locations and such. Otherwise enclose them in spoiler tags, guys.

Yeah I noticed it many months ago, also Children have undead sounds as well (WHO WOULD HAVE THOUGHT?) Sadly I can't link to the youtube video because it contains massive amounts of Vulgarity, and of course undead children fighting Dragons....

Back in Oblivion, I also found audio files of Dremora talking about Cyrodiil rumors and dear god, the Emperor has been murdered, that's so cruel.

Sometimes, the devs must have really weird stuff in mind :D
