Underrated games

I've been looking for a new game to play and I thought about all the unknown gems around.
Basically, list any game that you enjoyed and that hasn't received a lot or any attention, this is of course subjective, but try not to list Skyrim or anything like that. A small description is also always welcome.

My (incomplete) list:
  • Rise Of Nations: Rise Of Legends

RTS game, spiritual sequel on RON. Never heard about it till recently, and it is a good game. Enjoyable campaign, 3 completely different factions. Any RTS fan that enjoyed RON should give this a spin.
  • Space Rangers 2

Not an easily definable genre. A TBS top down space shooter with an economy system, planetary RTS battles, real time battles, text adventures and quests. And a good dose of humor.
You play a Space Ranger that has to defend the galaxy from an evil race. This mixed a lot of different genres, without any simply resolving into a mini game. Really good.
  • King Arthur: The Roleplaying Wargame

Imagine the Total War series with a slight RPG twist and some light text adventures in it. This is it. Good for your Total War fix with enough distinctive elements that it isn't a clone
  • Academagia: The Making Of Mages

Text Adventure Harry Potter. You are a student in a magic school (first year only so far) and that's it. All the rest is up to you. Want to ace your exams? Learn forbidden magic? Simply complete as much adventures as possible? This game has skills for everything (really, everything) and you can often use it. High replay value, and fun.
  • Fate Of The World

You are in control of the earth and have to prevent/elevate global warming. Really hard, since you have to balance economy with emissions. It makes you think about your options. Do you want to ban coal mining? That might cause a global recession. Try to save all the nations or let some of them die? How much of Humanity can you save?
  • UFO: Extraterrestrials

This is a poor mans XCOM. It is complete and has enjoyable elements, but is rough around the edges. Like all XCOM-like games has great mods. Good if you want XCOM that isn't XCOM.
