Unenchanted apparel for mages

Post » Fri Jun 01, 2012 12:38 pm

Where can Ifind some unenchanted apparel that would suit a mage (especially a hood). So far I've only been able to find "college robes" and a cowl which looks horrible.

There is an apparel shop in Solitude. The Thalmor have okay robes. I only found one set through completing a quest line. You might have to kill someone to get some of their robes.

some the wizards in the college sell Mage Hoods, which are unenchanted Novice Hoods. I can't find any unenchanted mage robes though, just the regular types of robes. If you want some hooded brown robes (called monk robes) there is a Talos shrine on the road between Riverwood and Falkreath that has some dead worshippers and a dead Thalmor. General goods vendors sell unenchanted robes with and without hoods as well.

I was travelling on the road west of Windhelm, and a Khajiit Thief jumped out and demanded my money. Once I'd disposed of him, I found he was wearing an unenchanted Mage's Hood. And I just did some digging on YouTube and found a similar encounter, and thief in http://www.google.co.uk/url?sa=t&rct=j&q=skyrim%20thief%20random%20encounter&source=web&cd=1&ved=0CB4QtwIwAA&url=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.youtube.com%2Fwatch%3Fv%3DpyNZvjvum9o&ei=C9_xTsC_BY3Y8QPq-dXEAQ&usg=AFQjCNHua_jNG794-9SXtA-doU2xLUnmuA is again wearing an unenchanted Mage's Hood.

Spoiler
After you do the Daedric quest A Night to Remember you will get a random encounter with an Argonian that can get you an unenchanted hat for either 10k gold or 750g (Persuade). He will show up multiple times

For gloves I think you can find them from time to time on dead bodies but some Thalmor agents have them as well.

Sometimes you will encounter nobles being escorted by the Legion. You could always kill them for their clothes if your character isn't a goody two-shoes.

There are a lot of gloves and boots in wardrobes that are not considered stolen. The arch-mage quarters at the college has a load of them.

There are several different colors of robes available (Blue Robes, Black Robes, Green Robes, Grey Robes, etc)... They're kinda kimono-looking sort of robes, some have a built in hood and others don't. I've found them in random cupboards in dungeons, but if you want a consistent place to find them, the best place is Radiant Raiment in Solitude. Matching hoods are also found in the same place.

The apparel shop in Solitude when I went sold blue robes that looked a lot like the mages robes just un-enchanted and I also got gloves/boots from there as well as black robes.

The http://www.uesp.net/wiki/Skyrim:Waking_Nightmare quest will give you access to purple Vaermina robes which are pretty good looking IMHO. Another option are the hooded robes (either black or Necromancer) you'll occasionally come across while dungeon crawling. More options would be welcome.

If you kill Ulfric Stormcloak or use the console you can get his clothes, which are enchantable and pretty cool looking.

You definitely want the apparel shop in Solitude (Radiant Raiment) They sell un-enchanted College Robes!

The coolest clothes I've seen so far are the Emperor's Robes... too bad I'm not a robe kinda girl LOL
