Unlimited Chips at Vikki and Vance

Post » Tue May 17, 2011 8:18 pm

Came across a bizarre glitch at the Vikki and Vance Casino in Primm. I gambled there for a bit and did very well. I exchanged my chips back into caps. I skipped merrily back into the wasteland to find something to kill. Much, much later into my game I noticed that in my inventory I had around 2,600 V&V chips and figured that maybe I didn't convert ALL of my winnings from V&V. I went back to Primm and V&V's and exchanged these "new found" chips. After the exchange I open up my inventory went to the Misc. section and sure enough...the same amount of chips were STILL there!! I went to the lady in the window and exchanged my chips for caps once again and found that i could keep doing this. I left the counter and opened my inventory again and i removed the chips from my inventory and dropped them to the ground. Actually it was a single chip that dropped but it was wort 2600. So basically, through some glitch, I have unlimited funds. I guess i could also convert this replenishing chip into Denarius' or NCR currency if i were so inclined.

I've heard lots of people mention this bug... I've only seen 1 person who said it didn't work for them. Not sure if it's system specific or not.

This has been reported in a few other posts here. It is a reproducible bug for sure.

Maybe it's because I haven't played any one character very long, but I've never gotten the V&V casino to be operational even after getting them a new sheriff. Is there something in particular that needs to be done to arrange this?

I as well as these other people above me, have the Vikki and Vance casino completely empty, so I am a bit confused how you guys are doing this? There are no people, especially no cashier/banker to get the chips with.

How do I (we) fix this?

I have successfully done this glitch.

First things first, you have to delete the recent update they released (basically the 1st update since FO:NV was released).

Then, you go to Vikki and Vance's (preferably after you finish Primm's questlines). After you leave Vikki and Vance's, leave Primm (go to Novac or somewhere else) and wait 3 whole days, then return to Vikki and Vance's. Soon after you enter, you should be confronted by a group of thugs who want you to "pay a toll for being in their territory". No matter how you end the conflict, leave Primm AGAIN for another 3 days.

When you return to Primm, go back into Vince and Vikki's. You will now notice there is a cashier who will exchange cash for chips or vice versa.

All you need to do is purchase as many chips from this cashier as you can, then turn them in for caps... rinse, repeat. There is a youtube video that explains it visually if you want to search it.

But that's the basics.

Edit: This is on an Xbox.

There is no game save risk there? Makes me a little nervous deleting that.

Well, if you are on the Xbox---not at all. I can't confirm PS3 or PC, because I don't play on either of those.

But I used to do a similar trick with Oblivion on Xbox. You just have to delete the updates, but then after you accomplish the glitch and get as much money as you want, you can restart your console, install the update as usual, and everything works as it should---including the fact that you still have all those caps.

After I did this glitch, I restarted the Xbox, allowed the update to re-install itself, then ran STRAIGHT to the gun runners and bought the newest and most expensive [censored] I could. :) I know it's pathetic and cheap, but gambling kind of svcks (even though I got banned from gambling in the Gomorrah for winning 32,000), and I just wanted to see the new weapons. :)

Trust me, if you're on Xbox, you should be fine. Otherwise... I don't know. The updates are just fixes for bugs anyway; the game should run as it did the day you got it if you delete the update.

How do you delete the update on Xbox? Can you reinstall update after you do this glitch?

On your dashboard, hit the Xbox guide button, go to your console's system settings, then to memory. It should ask you which source you want (for example, it'll show your hard drive the main option, unless you have other hard drives connected). Don't click on your main hard-drive, just highlight it and push "Y". It should bring up something that has an option for "system maintenance". Choose this, go through with the maintenance, and it should delete your updates.

*** Keep in mind, deleting your updates has NO effect whatsoever on your game save files or anything like that. After you delete the update, you can restart the game and before it hits the title screen it should ask if you want to install the latest update... Just install it like normal. Everything should be fine. After all, you played this game just fine (despite the glitches and bugs) before the update was released, right? :)
Hope this helps...

Ok it all makes sense up until the point that.... if you delete the update, and then lunch F:NV; won't it auto-update before you can do the glitch? Or does it only do it AFTER a system restart ?
