Unofficial Dawnguard Complaint Thread...

Post » Fri Nov 16, 2012 5:18 am

I want to make this thread to make it an obvious point to Bethesda that this downloadable content pack is the worst thing to happen to DLC since, well, ever.

I've played every single game that Bethesda have given unto our controllers, keyboards, whatever and loved every single minute of it... until the downloadable content comes out, where by the might of every single religion's god they are doomed to be ridden with bugs. I mean, I've dealt with flying characters and being trapped in invisible walls in Oblivion, my gun staying in the air and running into a pack of deathclaws only to find out my gun is 300 feet behind me shooting at nothing in Fallout 3 and more. I've even dealt with corrupt saves in every game due to DLC items (such as the infamous Tenpenny Tower 'troubles').

But, the fact is, this takes the absolute cake. Dawnguard is officially in my eyes the worst DLC that Bethesda has ever pushed out - I can't even fight a legendary dragon without the entire system freezing up. Or the system locking up when I go to an area which has been modified by the DLC. Or the insane framerate drops when that vampire [censored] uses magic ALL THE TIME.

What annoys me the most is that I applied for the beta test for Dawnguard when it was first opened, and I felt that I would do it justice because I've been a beta tester for hundreds of games (maybe not a whole hundred.) and I used to work for a company who did localisation testing for games here in the UK. But it seems that Bethesda just handed out the beta test to people with the intellect of a brahmin (see what I did there?) and expected them to be able to 'beta test' the DLC. And also, it seems like we've PAID for an incomplete product which is full of bugs and glitches, and going by Bethesda's track record there's a fat chance of a DLC patch.

I have never been this disappointed with anything. And I wish I could get a refund, fat chance of that too.

Please feel free to vent as I have just done. It feels good, man, trust me. Vent away!

I was fine with the DLC until the final quest (Kindred Judgment) broke. Now I'm incredibly angry, as I can't seem to find a fix. If I could find some way around this issue, I'd be happy again.

I'd just like to add the fact that vampires are attacking towns, but if I attack a vampire the guards attack me?

Oh and the VL transformation being useless when Serana is around... which is 90% of the quest line. And the fact that Serana keeps initiating attacks when you're sneaking.
They didn't pick the beta testers very well.

Wow, and I thought my bug svcked. Bethesda really needs to do something about this, and fast.

Honestly, I would have rather waited another month to have some of these bugs fixed. You can tell it was rushed.

the 360 beta testers have confirmed reporting nearly every one of the bugs being [censored]ed about now.

Blame the right group of people. Beth.

I applied for the beta, and by the time I expected the response to say 'You're in the beta!' it was in stores and for download... usually the beta lasts 1-3 months... not a week.

Also, it's an absolute joke that they disable the first-person camera while in VL form. I'm sorry but I do NOT enjoy any of the bethesda games in third person as it is a 'loose' third person camera and it moves too much for my liking. I like my Skyrim in first person.

from what i can tell the beta testers were. for the most part, [censored]s. im pretty sure you have seen the people having problems with their whole towns being slaughtered by random vampires attack towns without the player even realising it until its too late? well from what i can tell is that every beta tester i have seen defended this 'feature' they honestly dont care that people are having their whole towns being wiped out and there is nothing they can do to prevent this since the attacks continue for the whole game. whats also annoying is that even though bethesda had a beta test to search for bugs so that the dlc could be fixed upon release, bethesda decided to put the dlc out anyway, knowing of all the problems it had -.-

I don't think Beth cares what got found. Clearly it didn't get help up like TH was quoted saying at E3 it would be if issues were found. However There are quite a few of them if this subforum is to be believed.A one or two week "beta" is not a beta it is a publicity stunt.

I honestly believe that Bethesda had no intention of fixing the bugs before Dawnguard's release. I think they just wanted to find to majority of the bugs before the released it so that they could release the patch sooner. This is in no way acceptable, but I'm used to Bethesda releasing broken games and fixing them later. At least now they are aware of most of the bugs before the DLC was even out. However, I don't think this is the worst DLC Bethesda has ever made. I would have paid 1,600 Microsoft Points for the crossbows alone. Everything else is just bonus for me.

This. For just about every bug that's been reported, people on the beta have said they reported it.

I wish they hadn't done the open beta, simply because it seems to have only encouraged that high and mighty attitude that these forums can fall prey to so often.

I take the OPs point, if he was a professional beta tester before... but still, give credit where it's due, and blame likewise. Don't just assume the beta testers didn't do what you would have done.

I agree on all these points. I'm finding it difficult to work out if Dawnguard is a particularly buggy DLC, though, or if the forums have just got to a particular state where the reactions can be quite overblown on some points.

Not all points... but certainly some.

I feel for you guys. I've had so many damn problems with this DLC it's made my game experience frustrating and disappointing. More recently I've just given up because the game is unplayable and isn't worth the grief. The wait for for Dawnguard was long enough that they could have done a MUCH better job. It's a travesty that it cost us $20 and yet it has so many problems for some of us. I sincerely regret paying for this, and I will NOT be getting the next DLC when it comes around if this is what is to be expected from future content.

I honestly haven't had much trouble with bugs or glitches for this DLC. I found it to be quite enjoyable and I loved alot of the things it came with. I haven't had an issue of vampire attacks, Serana hasn't ever gotten in the way or started up a fight while I was sneaking. My only issue is when going to the Soul Cairn if you're on the Dawnguard side and you have to be Soul Trapped become a Vampire and if you become a Vampire, you're kinda stuck--Because then the Dawnguard hate you and I had an interesting experience with all that but I won't go into detail. I do believe some patches are in order and some things should definently be changed but over-all, I'm very happy with Dawnguard. --Also, I apologize in advance if my post upsets anyone.

The amount of bugs in here is insane. And the fact that a majority of these bugs were reported by beta testers, but bethesda didn't bother to fix them really irks me to no end.

Did you expect anything less? Even ZeniMax called Skyrim and other products by Bethesda a buggy mess. That says a lot when it's coming from the people who are in charge of Bethesda.

A question...did they port Dawnguard from PC to 360 directly? Could explain a lot of the bugs and problems.

My problem is with the quests themselves...buggy, choppy. Also, why give the option of starting Dawnguard at Level 10? I tried going through Dimhollow at Level 12 and got pwned on Adept. I ain't about to turn the difficulty down.

Should have kept it as post-MQ content. Considering the problems with the Scrolls and such.

I've not hit that many bugs really, the only thing that has happened to me is the well above average amounts of freezing that is occurring.

I've never had any of those issues, I can go everywhere, I have little to no lag, sounds to me like a hardware issue on your end.
