Is Lost Odyssey worth playing?

I owned it years ago but I traded it and and it was sitting on my shelf for too long.

I'd recommend it to a fan of JRPGs, definitely. I thought the story got a bit messy towards the end, but it's a solid game with a very memorable soundtrack and characters.

Tried the demo for Eternal Sonata today. Really liked it, but not sure if the game holds up throughout.

Anyone recommend a purchase?

It's not a bad game. The story left a bit to be desired, up until the end, where it got better. The music was pretty good. The battle-system is interesting, but it gets really, really easy once you figured out a strategy for your characters. Visuals are good, if you don't mind the style. I rather liked some of the dungeons.

Is Lost Odyssey worth playing?
Yes, definitely yes. My only complaint is that I wasn't able to finish it because the fourth disc was scratched (stupid used games...)

Not sure which version you played, but they bumped the difficulty up a bit for the PS3 release. Certain bosses were really beefed up.

I would recommend Lost Odyssey for sure. A very enjoyable game for me. Love the little snippets of Kaim's past that pop up throughout.

Any recent news on Final Fantasy Versus 13? Been waiting goddamned forever for that game...

I played the 360 version. That makes me wish I'd played the PS3 version now.

All they need is to put Legend of Legaia on PSN and things will be complete for me!

http://www.siliconera.com/2012/04/29/siliconera-will-reveal-a-square-enix-title-on-monday/

We have a treat for Siliconera readers this week with news about an unannounced Square Enix game. I can’t say anymore for the moment other than this will be an exclusive and the game will surprise you.

My money is on The World Ends With You 2, since Nomura recently said that there http://www.siliconera.com/2012/04/21/well-there-might-be-something-for-the-world-ends-with-you/ in regards to a new game.

Well the reveal was for Catacombs

I'm a bit disappointed by what the title turned out to be.

Lost Odyssey is a very good game. While the main plot was average, the written stories called A Thousand Years of Dreams were awesome. Been a bit bummed by Square this generation. Final Fantasy 13 I am still struggling to finish. I just play for a bit and get bored. Last Remnant has interesting ideas but is a bit of a mess. I would suggest it thougj for people who have a ton of patience. I have the latest Star Ocean game but have not played it yet.

For those who have a Wii, definitely check out Xenoblade Chronicles. I am 25 hours into the game and so far I am enjoying it. It has huge areas to explore, and a ton of side quests.

I still break out my ps2 at times to enjoy my JRPG collection. I still even own a couple I haven't played yet. Nocturne,Persona 4, and Tales of Legendia. So many games and not enough free time.

Catacombs could be interesting.

When their last game, Nier, was announced I was sure it was junk. I wasn't impressed at all. But now I consider it to be one of my top5 games of this console generation, if not number 1 even. So I'm sure Catacombs will be able to surprise me too, if it's not cancelled already that is :P

I guess this is a sign that SE is making a departure from the thing they helped be taken seriously in gaming...

Yep, and I believe Rising Star's localization was to be based off of XSEED's, so it looks like we're out of luck. Maybe Atlus can pick up the pieces like Dragon's Crown.

Edit: So now that LOD is up, I DL'd it to my PS3 instead of my PSP.

It's been so so long since I last played this. I totally forgotten when is the right time to hit the x button for additions haha. Glad Master Tensan gives you a "refresher" course before leaving Seles.

I've been looking at this game. I thought about buying it last week but went with Tales of The Abyss for the 3DS instead. I'll probably pick it up in the near future. :)

I think Xenoblade Chronicles is the best JRPG of this console generation, lots of exploration, great story and a marvelous soundtrack. Took me about 128 hours to play thru the game and do the majority of side quests, and was at level 96 by the end :)

The second best JRPG would be Radiant Historia for the Nintendo DS :P

I was never a big JRPG player growing up but recently I've tried to get into them. About a month ago I bought Blue Dragon and Lost Odyssey and today I got a PS2 and picked up Kingdom Hearts. I've really enjoyed Blue Dragon so far but unfortunately it's been caught up in my game backlog but that should change once this semester is over. I played Lost Odyssey when it first came out but I only borrowed it from a friend for a week. Kingdom Hearts is a game I've been dying to play ever since I saw a commercial for it back in 2002.

SO what are some good JRPGs for a newbie to the genre to play?
