Anarchy sounds fun. I could go with some ruleless, consequence-less, complete and total anarchy.

I want to blow somebody up with TNT just to watch them die (though, I would, of course, never do that in regular play.)

Lighting is a big problem down there. I didn't know torches don't work on slabs and glass. :shrug:

How would I go about not updating? Whenever I log in it starts updating automatically.

The new launcher, which can be gotten http://www.minecraft.net/download.jsp, has the option of not downloading updates if you don't want to.

Where is the new launcher? Do you simply download the launcher again?

Holy balls the new lighting makes the default game look really nice.

I think the new update is worth it if only for the seed generator. Some of the random worlds I saw on the Minecraft forums seem pretty neat.

I tried typing in my Minecraft username (mr_e12345) as the seed, and while the terrain was somewhat average, it sure seemed to have some cool stuff... Lots of caverns, pumpkins, mushrooms, and clay near the spawn. Might just be a keeper!

My username here (Mr.E) generated a flat, boring expanse. I certainly won't be using it!

And yes, the new lighting sure seems to make the game look nicer. Much more natural, it seems.

(Edit: I also quite like the world generated using my full name... Spawned near snowy cliffs with a singular floating monolith that would be awesome if a house were perched on it... A few reeds and clay bits nearby, too.)

Our server has to be updated before it will work with the new version of the game. So you'll just have to wait.

Also, when I log into the game and tell it not to update, it just goes to a black screen where the blue Mojang screen would normally come up, and it just stays there. What should I do?

While I do like the new lighting. I made a random map (random seed) and I got spawned in the middle of a forest fire. There is no visible trees and sapling anywhere. CURSE YOU NOTCH AND YOUR AMAZING GAME!!!

I entered my username as a seed. Spawned in an area with a lot of dirt, a lot of sand, and a lot of clay. There is also a zombie spawner INSIDE OF A HILL WITH THE ENTRANCE FACING THE OUTSIDE.

Just out of curiosity what difficulty do all of you play SP on?

Normal. Near as I can tell, the only thing it really affects is the spawn rate. Mobs don't seem any less aggressive or easier to kill on Easy mode, and I can barely tell a difference between Normal and Hard (perhaps that means I should bend my 'Normal is best' rule, but I find Normal strikes a good balance, especially when spelunking with skellies.

I play on normal also. Damn forest fire.

The new update allows you to use a seed generator. If say i'd used a seed of 1 and then you used seed 1 also, we would have the same base world.
