What is Minecraft?

Minecraft is a creative sandbox game centered around exploration and survival; exploring and gathering resources allows you to protect yourself against a variety of monsters that hunt you down during the night. The creative sandbox elements of the game fuel your want to survive and gather, which in turn allows you to build many wonderful creations. Basic fluid physics also provide interesting means of creating basic machines.
The multiplayer is very similar to single-player, just with more people and chat.

Continuing on from last threads discussion, I personally would like a new reboot. Sure I will be upset about what I lost but I would like to have the new terrian closer like right there.

Now I would think now would be a good time to start deciding on all the rules and what not to make sure they are as clean as stone. Or the rules from fourth world will carry over, not sure.

I'm gonna have to say I wouldn't like a reboot, at all. I've worked pretty hard, and it'd be irritating to do it all over again. But then again, I was never much of a fan of starting over in Minecraft.

In fact, it's the thing I hate doing most in Minecraft.

I'm fine with a reboot, it'd give everyone a clean slate to work with. Looking at all the biome overhauls coming in 1.7 it'd probably be more interesting too.

If you are worried about the skills for mcmmo, I'm pretty sure those stay. Just the world goes bye-bye.

I don't care about the skills. I care about my place that will be obliterated. I'm not a complete tard.

All you really did was flatten a bunch of land and put a giant wall up. And make that home you have.

It seems everyone who is posting here is in favor, you are the minority. The new land generation will be a lot better than the stuff we have now. Now I can finally move to a place that isn't occupied by 4000 people :D

You didn't build that wall, or hunt for that beacon, or the giant underground complex filled with building projects (I guess you did help on the mob grinder, but eh) or build those town buildings (which were firsts for me). You had someone else build your house, of course you're not gonna care what other people have built. My vote is a no. And there are still plenty of people that haven't given it an answer, so don't start jumping.

Also, I'm gonna lol hard if a new map does happen and a bunch of people move near you anyways.

Even better, right when I get my place kickstarted, people rally for a new map. Awesome.

No on the new map I will build things from myself. Variety is key. I'm not gonna use someone else's builds. As for the house, martyr just came over and started building I didn't ask or anything, he came over cuz I was giving him things and just started building.

If everyone does move next to me I'm gonna cry softly into my pillow.

You know for the first month of the server I'm probably gonna live in a tent with tons of boxes around me like I did with this one. :P

Yeah, for once I build things for myself and people want a new map, it's great admiring your work for about 1 week before it disappears forever.

And also it doesn't matter whether you agreed to it or not, somebody else still built your house. :P

Well you know now that you can build things, you can apply that knowledge to more advanced builds on the next map.

As much as I hate doing it, I understand why. I'm fine with a reboot... but only if there is certainty that this will be the only one to occur for at least a year, if not two.

And if we do do this, then the spawn should be thought out beforehand.

I suppose it won't really matter for me since my modus operandi won't change: Find secluded land, plant flag, build a new and improved Sheeps Landing.

Personally, I'm quite fine with losing my stuff on this map, I see each map I've been on as a chance to build up my skill with blocks by testing out new patterns, hell, I went from Winterhelm in Third World, an entirely underground city made largely of stone down there, to Sheeps Landing a stone based walling, but a myriad of designs made mostly to test out what things I liked and don't like. I was quite proud of my palace before Turns tore it down, it just didn't suit my personality. I'm always proud of my creations, but when a new map comes around it's just a chance to improve on my older works.

Agreed.

I love what I've built on this map, but I felt I tried for something too big with Fort Cavor. I was too worried about putting up my walls to enforce my claim that I eventually got tired of building them. If we do start a new map then I'll start more gradually, build something smaller and add on to it. Despite this I'm really proud of my design improvements from in the Fourth World and I'd be glad to improve them in the Fifth.

I'll also go farther away from spawn so I don't get surrounded by freshlings and the spawn forest. Though I would like to help make spawn to begin with.

We still aren't sure if it will or won't happen on the 1.7 update.

A general question: Is it possible to save the map as a file that could be copied? Or is it too big?

svck it up and test out building patterns and such. It's all I've been doing. It makes the town grow and allows me to test what I feel works and doesn't work. I've already learned a few errors in size rather than style.

Sigh, alright, I give in, if a new map were to happen, exactly what things would be kept and what would be lost? If I can be convinced well enough I will vote yes.

Im all for a reboot. Just put the map up for download, and we are fine.

Maybe we can keep our inventories so we can have our essentials (our hard earned diamonds/wheat).
