I doubt the links work. I'm using an iPod to do this, sadly. A good Google search will tell you what you want to know, though, right?

So, discussing what our favourite gen is. A lot of people's favourites were based on nostalgia, really.

How would the results be different if we based the favourite gen on how cool the Pokémon were in it. Like, introduced in it.

None of those make the games buggy is what I was getting at. I actually had more game corruption issues with G/S/C than I did with R/B/Y

I have to strongly disagree. Reading the comments it seems to be more related to innovation of newly introduced features and game mechanics rather than nostalgia factors. Gen II was undeniably the game that introduced more features than any other game, many of which weren't seen again until Gen IV.

Game mechanics has a much bigger impact to me than the pokemone in it, plus that's a hard thing to calculate. Do you use a point scale where cool new pokemon get a plus value and stupid new pokemon get a negative value?

For example, Gen III introduced many pokemon I really like, but it also introduced a ton of pokemon I absolutely hate.

I should add that if you don't keep doing minigames in the dream world, you won't be able to see any pokemon.

I guess I should clarify, by Gen. 1 I mean Gen. 1 pokemon. I only played Leaf Green/Fire Red, and not Red/Blue.

My choice actually was based on Pokemon, not gameplay. I absolutely love Generation 1 Pokemon. IMO they are the best.

I'm nostalgic, I know.

As far as the actual Pokemon, I like Gen 3 the best. But as for the games I like Gen 4 the best.

Yeah, the Gen I Pokémon were probably the best. The following Pokémon then became more and more like Gen I clones, until Gen V happened. To me, more than half the Pokémon introduced in that generation are complete imitations of the original 151.

But that's just my opinion. Nobody has to take it seriously. :P

Yeah there's quite a few gen 5 Pokemon that are similar to gen 1.

Klink > Magnemite

Trubbish > Grimer

Woobat > Zubat

Roggenrola > Geodude

Throh/Sawk > Hitmonlee/Hitmonchan

Bouffalant >Tauros

I know there's more, I just can't think of them at the moment.

Patrat and Pidove are basically Rattatta and Pidgey.

Even though I prefer Gen. II like I said in the previous thread, Gen. IV does have one of my favorite themes. (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VBkHuCAci1o)

I almost forgot to battle because I kept listening to that. :D

Purrloin > Meowth
Audino > Chansey
Sewaddle > Caterpie
Solosis > Abra
Litwick > Ghastly
And obviously the fossil Pokemon and the legendary trio Pokemon.

Solosis is definitely not Abra. The two are practically opposites, save for the high Sp.A, though Renuculus can actually take a hit though slow, unlike Alakazam, which dies like a [censored] but is fast.

Also, Abra runs away, while Solosis fights like a man!

Probably not. Huh. I was thinking of Pokémon that require trading to evolve into a third stage, but the Solosis family doesn't do that, do they?

What am I thinking of?

Yeah, but the similarities in Gen I and Gen V's pokemon was done on purpose. If you think about it Gen V was a big homage to Gen I.

Timburr and Machop, maybe. Both are the heavy hitting fighter types that require trade to evolve to their 3rd. However, the Timburr evolution line much more awesome.

And Gen V was the USA to Gen I-IV's Japan.

I meant that it felt like a fresh adventure just like Gen I did along with the obvious Gen I expys.

Still, it was the only region that wasn't connected to genI-IV.

Eh, not entirely. The final evolution for Tympole requires levels, instead of a water stone. But it was Gen V's froggy.

Felt like it for me.

I guess Drillbur is kind of like a Diglett with an actual, distinguishable form.

And I'm trying to remember what Pansage, Pansear and Panpour resemble, if they resemble anything.

Oh, and Munna > Clefairy

Gen 5 was also the only generation that did not have Kanto in it.

Kinda implied, as Unova is on a different continent (pokemon America) from Kanto, Johont, Sinnoh, and Honnen (Pokemon Japan)
