New thread!

So, what do you guys think of the S/M-exclusive Pokemon revealed up until now? I've already voiced my interest in Rowlett, Pikipek, and Iwanko. Everything else is so-so, but nothing more than I'd expect from a modern Pokemon game.

I'm with Monkey. This garishness isn't my cup of tea at all, but I appreciate what they're trying to do. Look at https://candylu123.files.wordpress.com/2011/03/humuhumunuknukuapuaa1.jpg - not quite as, erm, pink, but the inspiration is clear. Four island guardians, four main deities in Hawaiian mythology... I'm okay with any design as long as they make sense thematically. Well, except the last two fire starters' final evos because seriously, who approved this?

I never had issues with the fire pig final evo. To me, it reminded me of Wind Waker Ganon (lol). But Delphox would have been better if it wasn't standing so stiffly during battle, and be more like the actual art was.

Was this comment you are referring to from the previous thread that got page-locked...?

Also, since yesterday's release was really meant for today, it looks like today's info includes the English names of the revealed Pokemon.

Well, okay, Emboar's design isn't bad in itself, it's just not what I expected or wanted. I'd have taken a quadrupedal wild boar, but a Fire/Fighting biped was a massive disappointment. Then Fennekin turned bipedal too... I live in constant fear for Litten.

And yeah, I was referring to Monkeymoness's post from the previous thread.

Charjabug confirmed as Grubbin's evolution. ;) I still don't see any appeal of Zygarde forms, though. They're making it such a big deal and I'm not excited at all.

Yeah, I really wish that Pokemon that start quadrupedal stay quadrupedal. There's no real need to turn some of them bipedal, IMO.

I don't even see the appeal of Zygarde in general. It just seems bland, uninteresting, and another really weird quasi-Legendary Pokemon. The last good Legendaries, IMO, were Ruby/Sapphire, back when Legendaries still looked like they were organic creatures, not strange robots. But the Legendary Birds, Lugia, Ho-Oh, and Legendary Beasts will be my favorite forever. I really wish Pokemon could go back to those kinds of Legendaries.

Huh, didn't realize that the english version of the previous video was out. I also didn't realize Tapu Koko was supposed to be one of those island guardian Pokemon mentioned. Whoops, must've slipped my mind.

On one hand, those "leaks" of the final starter evolutions make me happy because of sea lion mermaids, but if they're actually real then this is precisely what it means for Litten. And dear god I do not want that for Litten, even if I'm going for Rowlett and calling it Cedric.

Anyways, Komala and Pipipek are still mine. I'm anxious to see more of them, given all the weird type combinations we've seen so far. (Normal/Dragon, Bug/Fairy--though I was expecting this one, Fairy/Electric, etc.)

It brings back memories of that Pokemon Quartz romhack, in a good way. More dragons, please.

Regarding Tapu Koko, I am quite puzzled as to why that one has a completely different name in English. Both the English and Japanese names evoke the Hawaiian language, so why the change? I also am not very impressed with it, as a) it looks rather small in stature to be an island guardian (I think of Lugia types of "guardians"!), and the fact that it has a strange type combination which, again, is not what I was expecting from the island guardian. Also that Hala happens to possess it, when it should be treated as a mythic/Legendary-ish Pokemon, in a cave or something else with mystical symbolism. Not owned from the get-go by a human.

But that's just my opinion.

I also am curious about Pikipek's evolutions. So far, I like that one, Rockruff, and Rowlett. The rest are about as much as I'd expect from the 7th(?) generation of Pokemon...meh.

I have started a new file of Pokemon White, only have beaten the first gym so far, and what I want to know is...

...why the heck Woobat, even a level 10 Woobat, is so difficult to run away from?! Even if my Pokemon are level 14? I was running/walking around Wellspring Cave to try to catch a Drilbur in dust clouds and I kept running into Woobats that for some reason wouldn't let me escape and ended up killing most of my team. One of the most annoying Pokemon, with a stupid design to boot...

Sorry, just venting Pokemon frustration!
