Unofficial Syndicate Thread - Bullfrog or Starbreeze, discus

Post » Mon May 14, 2012 9:18 am

Bullfrog or Starbreeze, this classic franchise deserves its own thread!

I played the old Bullfrog Syndicate and now I'm playing the latest one. Both games deserve applauds from all action fans. Some may be disgusted by the new FPS playstyle of the new game, but I personally find it still managed to hold its nostalgia in spirit. The numerous paths in and out of the complex, enemies possible from any direction, utilization of cybertechs, crazy hard to kill minibosses and teamwork management, even with the change of perspective, this game is fantastic representation of what it used to be.

My only disappointment is that I cannot team up with 360/PS3 players.

My EA account is IamHowie on PC.

I had no idea what you were talking about before I searched in the all-mighty wikipedia, and founded this about syndicate:
Syndicate was critically acclaimed on its launch, though its graphic violence provoked some controversy; as COMPUTE! noted, "This isn't a game to use as a morality lesson for the kids — it's bloody, it requires you to be ruthless, and some people may take issue with the use of drugs to control your agents. But it's a ball to play." In 2010, UGO included the game on the list of the 42 Best Games Ever.

But as I said, any info I have on anything this thread would talk about is wikipedia knowledge, ergo I have no idea what-so-ever. Which i also think is the case with most members here :D

The original Syndicate was one of the first computer games I ever bought, such an awesome game

I'm looking forward to play the new Syndicate some time, but I'm currently busy with other games. Besides, I will probably wait until it's cheap anyway as the singleplayer campaign is supposingly rather short. I never been much of an online multiplayer gamer.

It is kinda interesting that two futuristic cyberpunk shooters are released the same day though. Syndicate and http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0v9pt8obwsE, and I'm more interested in Binary Domain as I belive it will have a very good story.

It's rather sad that the new Syndicate single play is nothing like the old one. It's co-op multiplay campaign is what really gave me the nostalgia. It's squad base, tactics and doesn't really need you to know how to aim :P I had several co-op missions out there and it totally blew me away. It's nothing like Borderland which firepower is all that matters. It requires players to also utilise cybertechs that has nothing to do with shooting. I was the guy who heals, rush in to breech armors and shields for the team, running around dodging bullets, jumping off fense and sliding under crates, boost teammate firepowers with datalink and disabling stealths with EMPs.

I just finished the campaign, and wow, color me impressed. The story was good, although short, and the co-op is fantastic. The universe seems perfect for competitive multiplayer though.

I'd give it an 8.5/10.

what's your origin ID?

I think the difficulty for this game is quite adequate. at normal mode I still die if I'm not careful. co-op is the jewel of this game, i'm level 22 in there now.
