Updated AMD CCC 11.9 & got screws

Post » Mon May 14, 2012 4:51 pm

I did what I found on the Forums and updated my AMD video driver to 11.9 for my HD6770 card.
It was all screwed as I had hoped it would fix the MonsterBash issue of beating it and then freezes.
So I roll back the Video Driver and now Can NOT Play the game at all kust get black screen :verymad:
I am forced to uninstall Rage and Steam to start the whole process again.....
After the long tme it takes to re-install Steam and Rage , excited again to play at least some until a REAL FIX....
But NO LUCK as I am still Loading to a 'BLACK SCREEN' and cant Play CRAP :banghead:

So much for doing what they say as it screwed it up WORST

Now I also need to Re-Install my other Games becasue steam does not have them Lit UP any more ?
So more Time Wasted re-installing: Dead Island, FONV, LFD1+2
I had never had a Problem with steam until after bought RAGE!

These SCAMMERS , I mean 'Game Develoers' of a $60 per Copy Sold, BEST get their HEADS OUT of their BUTTS or BBB & FTC will get them for 'Misrepresenting' & Selling a Product to MILLIONS that is USELESS!!

I want the FIX Yesterday & will wait just a little longer before I Officially File My Complaints!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

PS.
If anyone has anything good for me to try and Fix Rage, my email is: bobk90@hotmail.com

i am assuming you have never actually read that part of the EULA that neither imply nor expresses a warranty of any kind and if your system has issues its your problem. It also a bit of a stretch to whine about misrepresenting the game since it works great on most systems. You do have a beef with AMD though since it is AMD's lack of programmer talent that caused your specific problems. AMD cards svck. Period. The drivers have been sub standard since the Radeon 9700 - and those were no that hot. AMD = CRAP.

I have read that the 11.1 drivers seem to work fine for rage if your using AMD hardware. You did not need to uninstall steam either - same with rage. You needed to fully uninstall the drivers since you likely installed one version on top of another who knows how many times now. When it comes to graphics drivers doing a clean install should be standard practice by now for any real pc user. I hope you get things sorted - but please quit with the litigious nonsense that you have no legal standing to even think about. The game is fine and it works great for most people. I'm sorry you bought an AMD graphics card. Did you happen to flash the cards BIOS to unlock it as a 6970? That is causing issues as well since...its a totally unsupported operation and as such very likely to cause problems.

Bogus have you taken a look into the PC thread lately it is obvious that the game is causing problems for almost everyone , be it crashes texture popping streaming juggy textures freezes or CTD without any point of information whats the problem you name it.AND ATI does not svck they just have a diffrent way of handeling things and with a proper driver they will also work with rage. ATI AMD bla bla again iam an Nvidea user and guess what my game does run but with freezes and CTD′s all the way fun not at all tested almost everything...
And you know what-- i even have 2 puters to test this and best of all is its the Nvidea card itself probably is causing these problems since a gtx260 can flawlessly run the game without any type of config plain simple clean install not even needs those fancy beta drivers ...ohh no its just runs ....but if you stick something more up to date inside your rig starting with 460 GTX or 560 up to 590 things start to get buggy And this has nothing to do with not cleaning drivers correctly.

Thanks for responding.
I was just blowing off steam complaining like others who are frustrated .
Didn't know about the Flashing but will take advice & not try it for sure, thanks.
Also, I didn't uninstall CCC because it was AMD and not ATI which was to be removed.
However, took your [censored] slap :confused: and went back & uninstalled the updated CCC driver I got from AMD website ;
I can now at least get Rage to play again, so i will go back to earlier saved game and skip the Monster Bash for now!!!!!

Did you uninstall the drivers in control panel? Then restart into safe mode and use driver cleaner pro to clean out the ATI registry files then restart back into normal windows and install the 11.9 then the rage update?
Yeah, that's how you do it. Also you do not need to uninstall steam. You just uninstall rage from control panel then go to steam folder - steamapps - common delete rage folder, re install.

But to make things even easier for you I suggest buying a Playstation 3 or Xbox 360. I heard there are no driver issues on those computers.

Obviously, you know nothing about the law. ANYTHING can be written into a contract, which you can willingly sign, and yet will not be binding. Many clauses are not legal in any country that is based off of British law, as higher law superceeds contract law. So just because it is in the EULA does not make it binding in the least. This is not for any one company in particular, but all. Warranties are guaranteed for everything that you purchase, even on the items that say they have none. If you know your rights, you will never get totally screwed by companies. As soon as you pay for an item or service, you have a right to expect that item or service to perform for a limited amount of time. For this, what we are seeing is that it does not work at all (so far). That means it is defective, not a warranty issue at all. The defect has not been proven to be in the drivers or the game yet. If good drivers are released, that make the game playable for most PC users, then that will prove it was the drivers. The issue however, is that releasing a product that was not working with current technology at the time of shipping and subsequent release, falls directly on Bethesda (as the publisher). They had the responsibility, and still do.

If you simply do not have any patience, or have run out of meds (not this OP, but some of the others thread OPs are out for sure), then just get a refund. That is another wonderful action that cannot be refused (in most legal systems) when the product does not work as advertised. To do so results in major penalties, as well as damages, and possibly a forced recall.

The video card manufacturers were given prior notice, which is why they had drivers ready on release day. Now it turned out that either A) they were done very badly (esp. by AMD's ATI division, as they do 50% of the time), or else B) id changed something (probably unintentionally) after giving them the specs.

It has only been three days, and we have seen two attempts to get working drivers out. In four more days I will grab my broom and join the cry of shenanigans. But not until then. I have at least that much patience.

For those saying - just refund the PC version and get a console: ROFL! When we get the PC version working with 16K Mega-textures and you are using 4K (since that is all the consoles can handle), then you will know why we own PCs. PS. 16K = 4 x 4K or 400% more pixels. Think HD vs SD. Now think of that in Rage. Now you see why we want our PCs.
