Upgraded my ram, what should I add?

Post » Tue Feb 12, 2013 6:25 pm

so I got my ram upgraded from 2G to 4G. Should I now attempt to play with higher resolution textures, increase my settings, or add more mods that add stuff to the game like more encounters, etc. Any advice is welcome.

running a

Intel core duo cpu E4600 @ 2.4ghz

Vista 32 bit

AMD Radeon HD6670.

4 GB ram.

This sort of stuff is better placed http://www.gamesas.com/topic/1433825-unofficial-will-my-pc-run-skyrim-thread-62-w-hardware-guide/.

32-Bit OS cannot utilize 4GB RAM, so I'd get a 64-Bit Windows (7 or 8). For HD textures, I'd look into a GPU with more dedicated VRAM (PSU allowing).

CPU: Get a quad core (per recommended specs linked above) and, if MoBo allows, overclock it (carefully).

Er, no. That thread is just to tell you how well you can run the game, not to help you figure out the full limits of your computer and what needs to be changed.

Erm, "With hardware guide"... Seems a place where many tech questions are asked pertaining to Skyrim. Reading through it and/or posing this question there, IMO, wouldn't be out of place. I know I've found helpful stuff in there when considering upgrades...

Hardware guide refers to the tiers in the first post. Sorry if it sounded like I snapped there, been a bit of a long couple of weeks here. :)

Thus hardware is on the table, as it were, and usually the content of threads' opening posts are up for discussion within them, right?

Time flies when you're having fun. Fret not, I didn't percieive you as snarky or anything. :P The community tech thread might be a better place still, but they did seem focused on Skyrim specifically.

Yep, but the thread actually says that's what it's for:

Please stay on topic, this is specifically a thread to help those who are trying to figure out if they can run Skyrim, if you want general tech help go http://www.gamesas.com/index.php?/topic/1247846-the-community-tech-thread-no-109/. Thanks!

So, yep, the Tech Thread sounds like a good place but I could very well be misinterpreting the situation again. :)
