Uses for Dragon Bone and Scales

Post » Tue May 15, 2012 9:22 pm

For a mage, are there any uses for Dragon Bones and Scales? I heard you could craft dragon armor, but as a mage I was planning on putting perk points into smithing. Is there another use or, more importantly, an NPC that will buy them?

Thanks!

Not a lot of use for a clothy robed mage tbh. You can make light armour if you have the blacksmithing skills but it still wont be great for a mage as you will have to enchant every piece to make it more suitable.

If you are a battle mage on the other hand.....Enchanted Dragon armour may come in handy!

Hmm thanks, maybe I will hang on to these. Not sure how I'm going to keep lugging these around without a house though.

You need to store them in a house. Otherwise each Dragon kill will add 70+ to your inventory weight.

Store them in containers in the house in Riverwood you get a key for at the beginning of the game.
I have stored stuff there now safely for about an in-game year.

Store them on Lydia or a different "follower" and make sure they don't die. I didn't use her at all except for storage. Now I own a house and store it all there.

If you do I never got it lol. I won't tell you where I got my house because that's a spoiler ;)

Edit: Oh, that one house you stay in that's located in Riverwood... that's not actually yours but I guess you could store stuff there.

Well, not exactly but you get the key to the house belonging to the family of whoever you chose to follow in the tutorial/intro chapter. This gives you free access to that house. You can store here until you buy your own house. Seems safe.

Has anybody compared the armor rating available from dragon scale versus "mage armor" like stoneflesh? I think the "mage armor" would have to be *substantially* better to justify the fact that it's not always on and only runs for a minute at a time... just my opinion.

That's the problem with spells they don't scale, you can upgrade your even glass armor and hit the damage reduction cap but with ebonyflesh it's impossible, tho I heard there's an allternation spell that reduces melee damaged taken by 80% fot 30s so that would make armor obsolete for mages

If you're a cloth Mage then they're only good for selling! But the enchanting warriors love that Dragon Armour!
