Using console to add perks : V

This has no doubt been kicked around before but I can't find an answer to my question . I have looked through the UESPWiki and have a list of the perk ID's but when I try to add one the console seems to accept the command (addperk < ID >) but it does not appear in the skill tree . Am I using the correct command or where am I going wrong ?

Are you entering it like this?:

player.addperk [perkID]

Maybe try Player.addperk &--#60;id&--#62;
