Uthgard the Unbroken as house steward :)

Post » Sat Nov 17, 2012 3:39 am

Uthgard the Unbroken makes a great choice IMO

When you speak to her at the Bannered Mare in Whiterun she come across as not very feminine and not very bright but if you employ her as your steward she completely changes in personality.

She is someone I guess that not many people use much in the game due to her attitude but as a steward she cones across completely different. In addition to this she is a warrior so will aid well in an attack. I personally think she looks great with the long red hair and Nordic Steel Plate armor

Just sharing ideas for anyone looking :)

I have to second Uthgard as a steward. I was trying to figure out who would make a good steward, and I lit on her - pictured her a bit as a medieval nanny who could also hold down the farm while I was away adventuring. I have to say - I haven't been disappointed. She never asks me if I'm lost (like Gregor) when I walk in the door.

Her occasional "Keep walking, soft-gut. I'm more woman than you can handle." while I'm mixing potions makes me laugh. I just RP that, despite being made steward, she's called the Unbroken for a reason.

Uthgerd is a true Nord warrior, born of ice and steel. She's a hard woman with a harsh tongue, but loyal to the last and fearsome in a fight.

Who better to look after my young family and keep my kids in check while I'm away doing Dragonborn-y things?

First I need to figure out HOW to get a steward.. and then if I can't make Farkas take the job I'll consider beating Uthgard's face in untill she says yes. She's a wonderful character but i've always had to wonder about the sanity of a woman who requires her future lifepartner to beat her up before she puts out...

-edit- would also be interesting to see if Cicero is a possable steward option... I mean really, can YOU think of any one better qualified to keep unwanted guests out of a home?

how do you get her as a steward? so far the only steward I have is one that was a housecarl from Morthal. Granted he isn't bad and I'm going to set him as essential with heavy armor so he can protect my home while I'm away.

How do you get other stewards?

Just do the quest to make someone your follower then take them to your new house area and after you build the first stage of the house talk to the follower and tell them you need a steward they will accept or decline depending on the follower. The link I gave earlier has all the followers and which can become stewards.

Thanks for the recommendation! I'll definitely give her a try.

I have been trying to give this steward matter some serious consideration and wanted someone combat-worthy and with a good character, but want to keep my favourite followers as followers. I use UFO which enables multiple followers, and my favourites (Faendal, Annekke, and Aela are my main buddies but I also sometimes take Derkeethus and/or Eola - ultimate sneak-based party LOL) need to stay with me rather than being 'retired' to look after my homes if that makes sense.

I'm struggling to find stewards that I like but that I'm not likely to want to have accompany me on my adventures, due to low sneak skill blowing my cover. So Uthgard definitely looks promising.

Vilkas also makes for a reliable no nonsense steward. He's the master two handed trainer and has no problem fulfilling his normal quest giving fuctions from the comfort of your home. lol. As for stealthy tag alongs I tend to take Farkas more or less everywere with me. Watching him do comando rolls while sneaking in full armor never ceases to amaze. Really makes me wonder exactly how follower skills are set sometimes.

I picked the wizard you help at Darklight Tower for my Steward because I figured she could use a break in life, and why not have that break be taking care of a spacious wizard's retreat where she can share in my research materials, enchanting and alchemy stations, and the sprawling monstrosity that is my library.

But at the same time, I find the sudden sense of servitude to have kind of diminished the way I felt about her when I first sought her out. They really rip the spine out of whoever you make your steward, I didn't think I'd ever hear my grizzled recluse called "Sir."

Actually, they don't. All followers will bark their usual proximity dialogue after being made steward. Illia just happens to be polite and formal.

I gave Uthgard to the Blades.
Eola is my Heljarchen Steward.
Illia is my Steward at Lakeview Manor.
Winstad doesn't require a Steward just yet.
