Utility Healer - Viable?

Well.. looking at the way the trees are being split out, my main focus was healing, but wanted to have something else to offer.

Based on what I've seen so far, I'm wondering about going down the sorcery route. Specifically, a Dark Magic sorcerer with a restoration staff. Feels like a nice balance of life and death / light and dark doesn't it. Typically druidic.

The question is.. is it feasible? Are the templar healing abilities critical for a strong healer, or where we focus on magica as a sorcerer with light armor, are the restoration staff skills sufficient? Bear in mind part of the strategy behind the Dark Magic tree is one of damage control and opportunity for team mate synergy.

Question ultimately is: is there an ability in either tree that will enable me to kill things and progress? I assume attempting to CC and heal indefinitely against monsters won't progress me a great deal?

there's something called 'friends'

look: I've played Mystic in TERA, it was probably the worst class for solo gameplay I've ever played in any game.
but then I had many melee-dps players on my FL which always loved to have a healer/CC with them
