I am experiencing some problems finding Valdimar. I have bought the land from Morthal and built my house with a main hall on it. I want to have Valdimar be my steward, but here's the problem: even though I am thane of Morthal (when charged with crime I have the option of claiming I'm a thane), Valdimar was never presented to me. The storm cloak Jarl is in power and I was the thane before hearth fire came out. I don't know how to trigger the Jarl to give me Valdimar or where to find him (he should be in the jarls hall but he isn't). Any one else getting this problem? Thank you for any help.

Same problem. I punched a chicken too to check lol. I looked all throughout Morthal and can't find him.

each of my housecarls just showed up at the house after a few days. have you built the upstairs beds for them at least? that might be an issue

Im having the same problem. i was thane before Hearthfire and i built my house all the way, and still nothing.

i'll try building a bed but my other housecarls came before that. also my other housecarls all met me in the jarl's hall, but Valdimar hasn't

Valdimir likes to patrol outside and he goes far, down to the water where the fish hatchery will be. He will come inside and sleep in one of the beds late at night. Try the detect life spell and see if you can pick him up. I briefly bumped into him when I was granted Thane of Morthal but I didn't have a house. After I built, he eventually showed up after I traveled around a bit.

I think it's because I was already thane before hearth fire. There's no option with the Jarl or her steward to ask for a housecarl or anything. I'll check around my house again. Any other experiences/workarounds?
