At level 49 the blood magic spells for the vampire lord do laughable damage to leveled enemies. Melee, hwoever, scales fine.

Works just fine for me at level 42. Sure deathlords and such might take a bit longer, but I'd be disappointed if you could two hit them.

No clue, my guy isn't a mage. But it's not like I needed to focus on magic for a vampire lord anyways. I've got more than enough mana to casts the spells, they just do not do anything substantial in a reasonable amount of time.

From what I can tell..

Its a grind to get VL leveled but when you get some perks in the tree it becomes Godly..and the radiant quests give you buff equipment and things.

the first thing to check if not doing much damage in vampire lord mode is weahter or not you have serana as a follower. if you do, dismiss her. There is a known glitch/bug where you do minimal damage with her as your follower, but it is fixed as soon as you dismiss her

This could very well be a reason. I remember owning some fools in that one skooma den when I was separated from her.

The guys post said she says she is returning to Castle Volkihar but shes nowhere to be found when you go there.

naw she's easily findable. she hangs out in castle volkhair, or for dawngaurd depending on your faction choice. just need to check around in the nooks and crannies for her. they like to hide in coffins.

edit: and never once had a report of her dissapearing from the game during beta.

When I was playing the Vampire side of the questline, I literally only used her as a follower when it was required. If she needs to be there for a quest, she'll just show up. You don't even have to go find her.

If she vanishes, it may be due to a particular quest being actie for dawnguard MQ.

And it's sad they didnt fix the serana bug...

I think it will be "good" to see Bethesda add in our old spells and spell creation so we can create what we want on our own then it will be good, as magic stands its one dimensional and bare bones, simply less than what there once was.

This is what I'm hoping Bethesda will do in next DLC is bring back spell creation and fix destruction's out of whack mana/damage ratio. Also having increase damage enchants to destruction spells and make mana regen a useful enchant in combat.

Thank you, I don't mind if I have to hunt her down through the castle to find her again as long as she's actually there to be found somewhere.

100% sure.
I never used VL form when i had her around because she made the blood drain attack extremely weak,and then as soon as I dont have her following me I start one shotting enemies left and right,its more than obvious to tell.

It's true, I took note of the damage I was doing to a bandit thug using vampiric drain in VL form with Serana as an active follower, dismissed her, and went out, hunted down another bandit thug and noticed a drastic improvement in the damage the spell caused. between dismissing Serana and fighting the second bandit thug I did nothing else that could have pontentially improved the spell damage.

What makes you think that this dev was involved in the beta process, or has anything to do with repairing bugs in the game?

With any possible game-killing glitch, confirmed or not, if I hear it happened to somebody I always keep the glitch in mind. For example, I save before Vampire side-quests or before dismissing a follower just to make sure I'm not leaving my back-side exposed to the Molag Bal of game-design, fatal and unpredictable glitches (anyone like the reference? A little crude, but I hope it gave you a chuckle.)
