No Vampire Disease ....please

Post » Sat Dec 29, 2012 6:20 am

Since complaining seems to be the preferred mode for some.I thought I'd complain too ! My "complaint" is about something I hope will not be in the game(I have no complaints about what's in the game so far so I had to "complain" about siomething that MIGHT be in the game). VAMPIRISM.

I'm playing Skyrim atm and got bit on the neck one dark night(no I won't discuss the details in public  ).Now I have to feed my addiction to blood no later than every 3 days or else...not so nice things could happen to me.Three days can go by very fast and suddenly you're a pariah. That really would not be good in an intense rvr battle when suddely everyone can see what I am.

There...I feel much better now.

They've already said that Vampirism will be in and that it will be handled like perks.

They can not really have the Elder Scrolls tag on the game and leave out vampires at this point, its a staple of the series and its something I always attempt to completely avoid. What I don't get is why I get infected by these vampires just because we got into a sword fight? I never saw them try to bite me, so I guess they got vampire goo on their swords? Not really to sure about that, but I pretty much always have to go hunt down some dude who has a way to cure me, because people start complaining that I look to much like a vampire, and I go...here we go again! lol

Apparently Vampirism in TES is an airborn virus. The only time I use the console in Skyrim is to remove sanguinare vampiris.

When that dude in Dawnguard asked me if I wanted to become a Vampire Lord I would have laughed in his face, pulled my sword, and removed his head, but at that point the game would not even allow me to draw my weapon. At least it allowed me to say no and not have to kill them all right then but I really did want to go back in and kill them all, every last one of them and even Serana, she deserved it to...Still not sure if at some point in Dawnguard I get to go back there and destroy that place I still need to finish that up I guess.

I would appreciate your spelling it out for me..."getting handled like perks". My wife (who still plays DAOC) absolutely H A T E S the idea of vampirism. She is very excited about ESOL.How can I tell her you can instantly make the disease go away...or can I ? I wasn't kidding about how we both don't like carrying that millstone around our necks.

I've sent in my Summoned Flame Atronach and Lydia to kill the vampire while I cowered in the background before and still got infected. Game glitch maybe?

I think what he means by handling it with perks is that if you don't take that perk you can't be infected...not sure but thats usually the way perks work.

that is interesting .. same thing happened in morrowind when you are on the main quest and become infected with corprus disease .. i can only guess that there was a lot of blood flying around and you got hit by a great dice roll chance and it went into iether your eyes, ears, or mouth ... wish we knew more about the reasons we become infected, would help us to avoid these tragedies.

We don't know how vampirism (and lycanthropy) will be handled. The devs have said that they're "perks", but there's no details on how you'll get these perks, or what exactly the effects will entail.

In any case, the way TES traditionally does it is that you have three days after infection to use a simple Cure Disease potion or spell. You only become a vampire after that time. At that point, you'd have the option of doing a cure quest to get rid of vampirism.

The problem is as a new player you don't know vampirism or 3 days or anything about the disease..before you have the full blown disease. Heck I had to go to a wiki and talk to players in forums to know what was going on. I will be frank...if my wife knew this was in the game she never would have bought it for me as a Christmas present. That's how much we don't like it.

Well, if you are a new player who cannot be bothered to read up on how to play the game and how to protect yourself from effects that you may find undesirable, then you deserve what you get, frankly. I would think that in the early stages of the game, ZOS will have conversations where you can be informed of how to protect yourself from Vampirism or Lycanthrope. Ideally this will be part of the player tutorial that so many "I know everything" players just blow through and don't bother to learn, then they pitch temper tantrums on the forum when they get owned by the game or by someone in the game.

Seriously. People really DO need to learn to play. And I don't mean that disparigingly

Usually a cure disease potion fixes you right up if you take it soon as you can after infection. I'm guessing it'll *probably* be the same here.

If I had to guess, you can probably choose to contract it or not during a quest. I wouldn't really label vampirism as a "perk" but hey. that's just me. I think it would be really cool though if you could check a box allowing you to contract vampirism the usual way, through getting hit. Although I'd prefer it if it wasn't a random hit, more like a finishing move where there is say a 10% chance that at 30% health or less a vampire npc will go into an animation and bite you, upon which you can go seek out a chapel, just like in the sp games. Also, if you at some point decide you want to be rid of vampirism then there should be a cure quest.

Anyone remember that potion seller in Windhelm? Every time you went near her she would say things like, "You look pale, are you feeling ok?" and you could stand in her shop and chug all of her cure disease potions and she would still be saying the same thing....lol a good potion seller, she was that!

How is Vampirism something that would break the game for someone, yet many of the other things included in the game aren't gamebreakers?
