Vampire Lord Not very Impressive

Post » Sun Nov 18, 2012 7:00 pm

Being a vampire lord is not very impressive. It's really hard to fight large groups of enemies. And also I have companions, wish friendly fire didn't exist. Why isn't the blood drain more like the vampires with a constant stream?

Blood drains powerful against most enemys, but you get destroyed against dragons or dwemer. I hope bethesda adds more stuff to it in updates

Its because its more powerful but at the moment, it seems some companions glitch out the Vampire Lord form and weaken the blood drain such as supposedlu Serana..if you're having trouble by the way click in the left stick to switch to melee combat.

Melee is not strong as a vampire lord. It's really hard in these forts. Outside is greta if I the vampire lord have enough free roam to move. If I'm in tight ass corner I can't do much at all.

I enjoy Vampire Lord form enough, but getting nerfed due to my companions would explain the sudden drop in awesome.

Look at the bug sub-forums. Then come back and tell me this DLC is impressive. I'm happy you enjoy it, and are not running into the problems some of us are running into, but this whole dlc is impressively disappointing.

Lord is a situation thing, you don't Lord out in a crypt corridor full of enemies who are already on to you.
In fact it's pretty useless in dungeons for a lot of reasons (inventory, looting etc).

It really shone for me today though when I was west of Markarth on some massive stone steps (you know the ones).
It was a very open, multi level area and it was crawling with foresworn.

As it was night I decided to give the Lord a go.
I obliterated them, floating Lord mode is actually quite awesome and it's mobility is almost op.
But I can see myself only using it rarely and for very short periods of time.
It's a "right time and place" weapon for sure, not a permanent character role.

There's a certain style to combat with Lord, I think it will prove itself to be cool enough with time.

I enjoy the new VL form, FAR more than the glass cannon werewolf form. I believe it has more mechanics for RPing and overall looks pretty badass (although I wish you could assume Harkon's VL form after taking over the castle). As mentioned before me, the VL is quite viable in open areas, however if you are standing still against multiple enemies you will get massacred on higher difficulties

As long as I don't have serana with me, I find it quite capable of obliterating everything, magic mode is deadly!

too many people complaining about its melee its not supposed to be good at melee its meant for magic the werewolf is the melee fighter out of the two and overall the whole expansion is the greatest ive seen in years compared to other games

I actually found it be rather impressive and almost to the point of OP (even without all the perks). I haven't used the new werewolf but at this point in time, I definitely prefer the Vampire Lord.

How do you get stuck as a Vampire Lord? Don't they have bat teleport? Does that not go through enemies? If it does...

Teleportation from the trailers gives you plenty room to use VL's paralyze, Grip which throws enemies, your fast while hovering (easy kiting). Its not suppose to be the ideal form to fight dragons with as with the werewolf, you can do it though if you want. Its like other said situational. Its like saying vanilla werewolves svck lol, they are insanely OP against just about everything except a dragon. They are insane vs mobs of enemies, there fear has no CD, fear 5 people that is enough time to cut someone down and feed on them for health.

People should record themselves playing before they state something is not very impressive, I garatunee you people will get themselves in the funniest situations like for example getting stuck in a corridor as a Vamprie Lord.

Moderator should change the title of this thread to "Need help as Vampire Lord"

I don't need help. As a Vampire Lord it seems I can only fight in said open areas. I'd like to fight in more closed environments, since Vampire Lord is a least somewhat stronger than my character right now.

And I have had more time to play as a Vampire Lord and have found some usages. I like pressing the run button and flying around. That and bat teleport doesn't always work properly. It can get glitchy.

And I haven't actually played Dawnguard yet, it is entirely my fault but I read "Vampire Lord not very impressive", clearly stating one persons opinion that is fine. I probably should not have replied, there are too many variables to why you have/had that opinion. If bat teleport is glitchy then I can see that being a problem in a dungeon. I am wondering, what is your characters level and stats? (Stats as in Health, Magicka, Stamina).

11

And I know that's pretty low. But I have a lvl 27 character in Dawnguard. This is my second main, but I never wanted to join the College guild, done it once, to contrived.

The Bat Teleport gets glitchy from time to time and it gets really disorientating when try to fight a lot of enemies.

Think I'll just repeat what most people have already said.
The VP isn't your run of the mill tank, it's really not meant for those who enjoy swinging a battleaxe around.
If you have a mage, have at it Hoss. But you can't expect the play style to benefit all view points.

I do have a mage. I just want to keep my mage more safe and get these guys off of me.
