Vampires and the sun

Post » Tue Nov 20, 2012 2:55 am

Why didn't they make it so the sun doesn't effect you unless it hits you? There's been many times the sun wasn't up or there were to many clouds to even see the sun but still it effected me. I dont understand that.

I could be wrong on this, but it makes it easier for the game to process it. There was a mod for Oblivion that implemented such a feature, but it was script heavy which made load times increase and the FPS decrease. With Skyrim running the same engine (I think anyways) it would be heavy on systems.

Okey... it can be done aloot easier then aloot of scripts (if you have access to the engine and stuff like they do) xD Just check if a line between the sun and the player is clear or not.

Well vampires are hurt just as much by the sun itself as the daylight it produces, so I don't think it would be worth adding such as feature

Your still lucky vampires don't burn in the sun like in Morrowind and Oblivion. Don't push your luck, sir.

Yeah, but in Morrowind (and Oblivion? don't remember) we had the option to enchant gear with a regenerate health enchantment, which could easily be used to offset the sun damage. It was pretty sweet.

It's the ultraviolet radiation. Clouds don't stop that. You can get sunburned on a cloudy day. Vamps are just more sensitive to it.

In Morrowind you did. In Oblivion all you had to do was feed and the sun would not harm you for a day.

Maybe some day they will have it so different lighting effect vampires, and also so there will never be another loading screen, and cities with more than 30 people but with thousands.

What ultraviolet radiation, I believe that sun in elder scroll is just a hole in reality that let magic in? You need to read the lore of elder scroll.

Better than Morrowind. And somewhat better than Skyrim.

OB Vampires would die all the time if you were on long quests. You either died from the sun or you stopped halfway through to feed.

Which is good. They shouldn't of been slacking. Vampires need to feed just as humans need to eat. That's why I loved Oblivion.

So you're saying the sun in Skyrim is a hole in reality and not a sun?

I actually played as a level 4 vampire in Oblivion. My restoration was so high that I could actually block out the damage for a little bit of time.

Yes a hole made by Mangus, when he left said hole is source of all magic.

Well by that logic at night magic should be weaker since moonlight is just the suns light reflected.

It also doesn't make sense that vamps all use magic, yet have a weakness, aversion where the sun is concerned, that should make them weaker in magic not all magic users.

I think this lore needs work.

Kinda like a pagan Roman emporer helping to chose which books would end up in a Christian bible and which would become gnostic.
