Vampires dressed as Vigilants of Stendarr : V

So yestesterday I was riding with my horse through a road when I saw 3 vigilants, one of them said something like "You there, come here", and when I did so they attacked me with the drain life spell, there were some naked vigilants corpses nearby too.

It was pretty cool, even though the vampire who called me was quite unprofessional, his tone didn't feel like a vigilant at all. Did this happen to anyone else?

Yes.. had this happen to me once, except I was in VL form lol, was rather ironic. I decimated them.

I'm not surprised this happened. There are bandit who kill Imperial/Stormcloak soldiers on the road, that their outfits then demand you pay a fee or toll or something, when the bodies are clearly still on the road.

It's a pretty cool random encounter. Honestly though those vampires certainly could have done a better job concealing the bodies.

It's very cool!

They actually tricked me and got in a good four or five whacks before I could retaliate.

Granted, my retaliation was much more lethal than their attack, but the ambush worked amazingly well. It's little things like this that make me love Skyrim so much!

Yes I'm ashamed to say they got the drop on me too, perfectly.

I had only recently been to inspect the hall itself so when I saw a bunch of "survivors" I was eager to talk to them... only when I actually got close did I notice the corpses in the grass...

I actually took a few hits because I was laughing so much at their sneaky ingenuity.

I have seen this as well. From what I gathered the Vigilant's headquarters was wiped out by vampires. I am guessing they turned many of the vigilant in to vampires themselves. This may not be the case if you found vigilant corpses but it was my guess when I found them.

They have thrown a few cool twists into random encounters now including hunters. I will not spoil the surprise. I have not seen the hunters yet but I was told about them and thought it was pretty cool.

It adds a lot to roaming around in Skyrim when you have to be wary of strangers on the road. I wish there more of these encounters as well as the mysterious stranger and Vampire attacks - they just need to fix the bug where town's people are getting wiped out in some peoples games, or have the dead NPCs auto replaced.

no, but that is pretty cool....I have however been to Falkreath and a "traveler" was trying to to ask me something then all of a sudden a gargoyle appeared and started to attack me.
