Vampires: essential questions

Post » Thu May 10, 2012 7:07 pm

First and foremost Hi! :) This is my first post in this forum so please excuse me if I'm asking about things already discussed, I have used the search feature but didn't find a specific thread that sums up everything. So here some IMO important questions on vampires in Skyrim:

1. Can characters of all race types become vampires? If yes, are some of the races better suited for being vampires?
2. Is there a change in appearance reflecting vampirism and does it scale depending on how long you have been a vampire?
3. Does being a vampire affect in some way the main quest-line and does it affect the relations with NPCs?
4. Can you drink blood from individuals belonging to all the races in Skyrim? Can you drink animal blood? Is there a difference in blood quality depending on who do you feed from? Is it necessary the target to be alive in order to drink its blood?
5. Is there specific vampire equipment in the game, or the vampires use the ordinary weapons, armor, shields that you can find anywhere? (I strongly hope there are unique vampire items, at least in terms of appearance if not in abilities as well).
6. Being a vampire can you recognize (sense) other vampires? By recognizing I mean some other ways different than checking out their fangs length. Unless you've been caught svcking blood (btw can you be caught doing this?) can NPCs tell you're a vampire?
7. Is there a way, through potions or other, to walk in daylight?
8. Is there a specific vampire skill tree/perks?
9. Is all magic available to use by vampires? Are there spells/abilities that only vampires can use?

Hopefully these are general questions and are not spoiling too much, knowing more details can prepare us better should we decide to walk this path.

It's confirmed that vampirism has changed very little from Oblivion. The rest is common sense.

I agree with this guy because I don't think have the stuff mentioned has been confirmed or denied, or even mentioned for that matter.

No because TES vampires are based on vampires from many many years ago?

1 yes you can, all the races the same
2-yes, based off how long ago you feed
3-Not the main quest, not feeding will make you become less human like (dropping NPC disposition)
4-all races, not animals, no qualities, i think they must be alive
5-Likely no special equiptment
6-(in the past other vampires could care less who you were, might change) if you dont feed, you become less regular looking (NPC disposition drops)
7-probable not (fire resistance potions will lessen the damage) feeding allows you to walk in daylight)
8-no
9-they can ise all magic (not sure if they have special spells(necromancers do, and they fall under conjuration)

You REALLY want this to be a vampire game dont you?

We currently know none of these things until the game comes out except that drinking blood reduces, or affects sunlight damage.

Edit

The lists you just read where pure speculation.

1. Yes, I prefer dunmer due to their fire resistance to counter the weakness to fire that comes w/ vampirism
2. Older appearance, more wrinkled the longer you don't feed
3. Higher stage of vampirism, lower NPCs disposition
4. Yes, no animal blood, no difference, and yes, at least in OB
5. Unique abilities, probably not unique equipment, would make you stand out more tho if your not going for stealth
6. You get a detect life ability, applies to everyone tho, not just vampires. And npcs just say you look sick, but I never let my npc go full vamp to really find out
7. Stay well fed. There was "human blood" vials in OB, but they didn't do anything, hopefully they do in skyrim
8. Probably not
9. Anyone can use any magic w/ high enough skill, vamps get special powers tho

And I wish I had a stick made out of fishies to give you, but sadly I do not...

Daily powers are not in Skyrim. We'll have to wait and see what replaces them.

1. Can characters of all race types become vampires? If yes, are some of the races better suited for being vampires? yes and no
2. Is there a change in appearance reflecting vampirism and does it scale depending on how long you have been a vampire? dont ask me
3. Does being a vampire affect in some way the main quest-line and does it affect the relations with NPCs? it will affect npcs if they know you are one {probly} but no idea about MQ
4. Can you drink blood from individuals belonging to all the races in Skyrim? Can you drink animal blood? Is there a difference in blood quality depending on who do you feed from? Is it necessary the target to be alive in order to drink its blood? yes, every humonoid race can be harvested, no animals dont work, no difference (blood is blood) and idk that last one
5. Is there specific vampire equipment in the game, or the vampires use the ordinary weapons, armor, shields that you can find anywhere? (I strongly hope there are unique vampire items, at least in terms of appearance if not in abilities as well). probly not, why would a vampire get something special
6. Being a vampire can you recognize (sense) other vampires? By recognizing I mean some other ways different than checking out their fangs length. Unless you've been caught svcking blood (btw can you be caught doing this?) can NPCs tell you're a vampire? how would you sense other vampires without looking at them? you dont get a vampire detector just because you are a vampire. yes you can get caught svcking blood (i assume) and i also assume NPCs cant tell unless you are starved/caught drinking blood
7. Is there a way, through potions or other, to walk in daylight? no
8. Is there a specific vampire skill tree/perks? dont ask me
9. Is all magic available to use by vampires? Are there spells/abilities that only vampires can use? yes, and again, you are cursed you dont get anything special other than the powers

Got me here ;) Seriously though I don't want a vampire game, but I want it to feel more interesting being a vampire than it was in Oblivion.

Edit: I'm not very familiar with the forum, should I trust guys with more stars? :)

Welcome here is your http://www.uesp.net/wiki/General:Fishy_Stick

1. Can characters of all race types become vampires? If yes, are some of the races better suited for being vampires?
Yes, Any race can become a vampire.

2. Is there a change in appearance reflecting vampirism and does it scale depending on how long you have been a vampire?
This was the case in Oblivion. Don't think it has been confirmed officially for Skyrim but expecting yes.

3. Does being a vampire affect in some way the main quest-line and does it affect the relations with NPCs?
It shouldn't effect the main quest. But once again in Oblivion yes people reacted differently and can't see it being different for Skyrim.

4. Can you drink blood from individuals belonging to all the races in Skyrim? Can you drink animal blood? Is there a difference in blood quality depending on who do you feed from? Is it necessary the target to be alive in order to drink its blood?
You should be able to drink the blood of sleeping victims. I imagine children will be excluded from this. Don't think there will be a quality. If I recall the requirement was that the person needed to be sleeping.

5. Is there specific vampire equipment in the game, or the vampires use the ordinary weapons, armor, shields that you can find anywhere? (I strongly hope there are unique vampire items, at least in terms of appearance if not in abilities as well).
No equipment that I am aware of. But there should be vampire specific traits / perks / skills etc both positive and negative.

6. Being a vampire can you recognize (sense) other vampires? By recognizing I mean some other ways different than checking out their fangs length. Unless you've been caught svcking blood (btw can you be caught doing this?) can NPCs tell you're a vampire?
Not sure on the first part other than visual indicators. NPC's will most likely recognize you as a vampire.

7. Is there a way, through potions or other, to walk in daylight?
My guess is there will be. If I recall if you have recently fed you can walk in the sunlight no problem. The more days pass without feeding the more damage you would take outdoors.

8. Is there a specific vampire skill tree/perks?
Not entirely sure will have to wait and see.

9. Is all magic available to use by vampires? Are there spells/abilities that only vampires can use?
All normal play styles should remain available. And there should be some form of unique spells/abilities etc both positive & negative.

I'm hoping at least hunters sight is in, by far the most effective perk for stealth characters for the cost IMO

Cause they are centuries old, isolated, society so I assume they can hold some ancient artifacts normal people can't possess.

Great. Infect a hundred NPCs, they all go about their daily business as usual, then die from the sunlight. Or alternatively, get caught feeding and get killed off by the guards.
Wouldn't work.

They're just diseased people. Most artifacts are of Daedric origin.
