Vampiric Deformities

Post » Sat Nov 17, 2012 2:49 am

I've noticed that some vampires in Skyrim have some extremely strange facial deformities such as an almost piggish nose and other drastic facial features. Why is this? The Main Character doesnt get like this when he is infected. Im not sure if this is related to the dawnguard dlc or not. Can someone please shed some light on this?

It's really odd, because some of my characters are altered so much by Vampirism that they don't even look the same afterwards, while others are completely unhindered besides glowing eyes.

Vampirism changes the body and the face. This has been in Daggerfall, Morrowind and even mentioned in Oblivion.

In Daggerfall, one fellow who died became a vampire and when he went to speak to a female friend of his, she didn't recognize him in the slighest. No one remembers you and figure you for dead. In Morrowind, the player appears no longer human or Mer, but more of an animal with white eyes and fangs. In Oblivion, it is implied you also have a change of apperance besides the obvious wrinkles. In the dream you get in Oblivion, the player doesn't recognize himself until after he drank blood.

I have had 3 characters in DG that has vampirism, a Nord, a Breton, and the other was a Dunmer. The Nord looked normal but my dark elf had the bat face like you see on some NPCs, my theory is its a feature for all vampires but its broken for most of the races to include Nords. My Breton just had a weird line from the tip of his nose to the bottom of his chin. At this point I just want the PC version so this can be resolved by the mods, I'm sure there will be a mod that gives the player the bat face with the other races.

It's cool that vampires have the ability to look like the horrible undead abominations they are. But they're also famous for being able to blend into society. It would be nice if vamp looks were customized.

My theory is that for some people vampirism is to strong and there face gets deformed while people like (the PC,Harkon,Serana and Valerica) are more strong willed and the vampirism doesn't change there face other than being pale/looking dead and bad ass glowing eyes.

Not all vampires. All vampires are suppose to look like undead abominations. The blending in was suppose to be unique for a single clan.

I suppose it is because they are purer, but nevertheless they can be labeled easily as a vampire with their glowing eyes. It would be hard for them to blend in.

Could just make up stuff and say..

Normal looking vampires are the purebloods and people turned directly by Purebloods (which explains why the dragonborn doesn't look like the Thrallmaster guy..lol)....and the Cyrodil Vampire clan because they sold out and attained the ability to look normal.

The deformed Vampires are the ones turned by the people that were turned by a Pureblood previously thus the bloodline weakened.

It's not really a piggish nose as it is a bat-like nose...

I would HATE for my character to have that kind of nose...

This a bit off topic but the amount of people I've feed off in dawnstar they should all be vampires. I don't know how this works but feeding not infect people?

My two characters were suppose to be pure to begin with...underwent a ritual with Molag Bal while still in their mother's womb(A Molag Bal ritual was mentioned in my story, but the details were scarce. Thankfully, we have details!). And I wrote most of it during the time when Skyrim wasn't even announced yet. Bethesda screwed them up by making them thin-blooded nuisances, enough to make them cause suicide. I need to find a loophole.

Molag Bal: "Are you a parking ticket? Because I'm not paying you."

But yeah I wish you could get the bat face.

This is how it should work - the longer you go without feeding, the more deformed and ugly-looking you get. As you feed your face slowly goes back to normal. Not sure it it actually works that way, but in movies and TV that's usually how it goes (or actually, the older the vampire the more it resembles a bat - hence the pig-like bat nose).

I'm pretty sure the vampirism facial features are bugged for most races to include nords, I wouldn't be surprised if there are mods day 1 of the PC release to address this or at least give the play the bat faces and fix the line.

It worked in Oblivion. Not in SKyrim.

Is anyone else reminded of the Lost Boys by the deformed Vampire face? You know, when the vampires go, as me and my friends called it, "full bat."
