Vampiric Drain still blows

Post » Wed Nov 21, 2012 1:46 am

I was hoping with all the vampire additions the vampiric drain spell would get a second look and maybe improved a bit. It seems pretty worthless after level 10 and could use a serious boost from where its at now:

[...]

Ya, I was pretty disappointed to discover that it only did 5hp / sec. Hardly worth it, as I am level 60. Less of a Health Drain and more of a Health Tickle.

I do hope they eventually patch it, or just offer a more powerful version in a spell book you can buy from Castle Volkihar. Something on par with the Vamp Lord version, but obviously slightly down graded.

I hate having to use mass paralysis simply to use a bottom level life svcking spell...but the game won't give me a dialogue for "Oi! Stop running around and stand still for five minutes so I can svck the life out of you!"

The only good Vampiric drain is the version Serana uses and the projectile vampiric drain Vampire Lords use.

Dawnguard has made it more powerful, but is still pretty useless when playing master difficulty just like every other spells in the destro school of magic.

Ya, vampiric drain is trash. And it's the trash of an already trashy school of magic. At least they didn't screw up the other schools too badly...

You know it kind of kills me how they made the VL drainball spell so powerful and yet vampiric drain still svcks. They gave it a minor buff with Blood of the ancients but nobody ever thought that vampiric drain could've used a major buff in damage?

You're referring to the Vampire Lord version, I hope.

wait, people actualy try to use Vampiric Drain? And they expect it to work? And I thought Sheo was a bit off his nut. Bethesda has a bad habbit of making life absorbing spells either very weak or obscenely expensive. A trend I don't forsee them much changing. But we can alway hope right? Like mabey getting spellcrafting back?!

You would do better putting absord life effects on a bow you would gain more health back per shot than you would with Vampiric Drain, and do more damage.

I wouldn't mind it being obscenely expensive. I already have an Illusion set that brings my total Illusion spell cost down to 0%, so I'd just do the same with Destruction. :) Just so that I could use that one spell, if it did enough damage.

I would love to get Spellcrafting back. Also touch spells. Those were fun :D

Dunno what touch spells are but there are some melee spells in this one mod.

Probably get alot of hate for this but whether or not you like naruto these spells are fun...

Make a bolt of lightning in your hand and run around hitting people with it as a melee attack. Make a bolt of lightning coil around your body and arch at everything around you.

Sending out a push spell that does decent damage, having a choke type spell. You can use one spell that makes it rain, and suddenly a lightning bolt falls from the sky on your target.

Theres a teleport spell that puts your right behind your target.

You can look at your enemies, and your vision will blur, but they'll be consumed in black flames, and as long as it's casting every enemy you look at gets caught on fire.

Shooting fireballs out your mouth.

A new Iron Kunai weapon.

A few other melee spells.

I don't remember what else is in it but all those spells I had fun with. Again dunno what touch spells are but, well this had melee spells xD

Well we have some of those already. We can make it rain with Storm Call and shoot fire out of our mouths with fire shout. The lightning coil sounds like lightning cloak as well.

haha in no way was it lightning cloak.
It's a legit bolt of lightning that wraps around probably a 5-10ft radius dealing a single hit on instant damage. Think of the lightning bolt spell being twisted around your body.

This was a legit fireball not a wave of fire and it's a spell not a shout, and can be shot as an automatic move depending on spell being used.

And the rain was just to set up the storm for lightning to rain down from the sky onto an NPC

Agreed, its sad that the normal vampire NPC's seem to have a more powerful vampire drain then the player does.

I've thought that for a while as well. Just a slight adjustment to the damage tables wouldn't be amiss.

That sounds really great! Beth needs to implement a few of those ideas :D ...so I can use them on my 360 :)

Touch spells in Oblivion were basically melee spells...only you don't punch, you just touch the target with the palm of your hand. The spells could vary from assorted Illusion spells to calm, fury or fear, to Destruction spells to burn, shock or freeze. Once I figured out how to use them I preferred touch spells over casting only because I had a hard time with the targeting. It was easier for me to run up on the guy and light him on fire with one touch then fear him away with another.

In Skyrim I'd love it if I could dual cast touch spells as like a grab. Imagine using your vamipiric drain (assuming it did like 10-20 a tick) and grabbing a bandit. svck the life right out of him. Or dual touching (grabbing) a bandit with frost, and freeze him solid the longer you held on. Meh, just a wild but fun thought :D

yes it should have.
im pretty sure throwing a sweetroll at someones face is more effective than vampiric drain.

I've killed NPCs with sweetrolls.
