Vampirism - annoying idea and frustrating

Post » Fri May 11, 2012 2:59 pm

I've become a vampire and now having read about it am stage four and my game is borked. Well done gamesas. Seriously, it's quite [censored], you get no message that you're infected , or the message isn't strong enough (I downloaded from Steam and there's no manual to be had - why is that btw?) and now I'm getting caned left right and centre with no well described course of action. Annoying, REALLY annoying.

There is a Manual within Steam. And you do get a message that you is infected.

Spoiler
Also, there is a quest to cure vampirism. Make sure to feed and stay in shape and go to Morthal, your healer should be there.

It's not their fault you didn't pay attention. Maybe instead of [censored]ing on the forums you could just cure yourself of it?

It actually does tell you when you are infected with Sanguinare Vampiris when you first get it. You could have also checked your Active Effects under your magic menu after you fought the vampire to see if you have it. And on the third and fourth days you do get messages that you feel "hungry" and the like before you turn on the fifth day. Its not like the quest to cure it is that hard anyway.

There is message, when you interact with people at early stages, they will say: Are you sick or something? etc... that's when you need to check. :celebration: but it can be cured.

you have to be smart enough to notice:
1. The enemy that gave it to you was undoubtedly named a vampire of some sort
2. It DOES prompt you when you contract it (isn't called just vampirism it has a tech name)
3. You should peruse your stats more, and you would have seen you had it before enough time had passed to turn
4. It also never hurts to activate any shrines your near always just in case you had a disease

You know how to feed right? Find a sleeping person and interact with them while sneaking.

Just tried the vampirism and since they removed attributes and reduced skills you cannot anymore jump higher and run faster , so everybody can chase you and the annoying thing is that every guard is always stronger than you and there is no way to play "crime" .... plus invisibility you say it is good 100% ? It is useless tough because the guards can simply see you always no matter if you are invisible another bug or just bad design ?

While I cannot sympathize with the OP for missing the initial notification when he became infected/transformed, I can sympathize with him about how horrible Vampirism is in this game.

Thankfully, I play on the PC and have access to mods, even if they are a less-than-optimal solution.

There are potions and shrines that clear statuses and diseases. Also, The manual can be found by going into your steam library, right clicking the game, and clicking "view player manual"...it's a PDF file.

Find a shack in the woods, or a bandit camp. (Travel at night)

I can sit in front of bandits without them seeing me in the day, sneaking isn't hard.

What are the benefits/drawbacks to being a vampire? Also where do you find them to be infected from?

If your not a stealthy character I can see vampirism being a PITA. But as a stealthy character should actually offer some benefit. Tho most of play time would be at night.
