Ok somehow my Critter.psc file has been overwritten and no longer functions - my guess is some winkybear helper mod tried to "fix" the errors it throws after 1.6 came out.

How do I restore it to a Bethesda-approved version???

you can delete it, then go to your steam library, under tools find the creation kit and right click on it to select Properties, and then Verify Tool Cache
