Vault 11 story

Post » Thu Jan 27, 2011 7:34 am

Ok so I wasn't able to find all of the logs dealing with this vault but what I did find tells a very disturbing story even for a vault. Did they really have a lotto so to speak to determine who gets to die? Like how virgins were tossed into volcano's to make them stop erupting? This is what I got from it and if this is true then I am at a loss as too why. The other vaults including the ones in FO3 were messed up but did have some kind of purpose even if it was evil and twisted. But what was the point of Vault 11 I just don't understand what was to be gained by what took place there. I am thinking I missed an important terminal that told me why so I hope someone here can fill in the blanks.

If they didn't sacrifice someone, everyone would die. Most vaults were experiments, lots of them social. Sometimes the experiments where just to raise the temperature a lot and not secure the gun cabinets. Other times, the experiment was to fail to close the door. The purpose is that of all social experiments, to understand people and society.

It's not meant to be taken too seriously. The vaults were never meant to save anyone. They were merely social experiments to test how humans react in isolation and how they can be manipulated.

If you didn't 'finish' the vault then you missed the kicker.

Spoiler
The people refuse to send anyone else to die, thinking they'd rather all die (as they've been raised to believe) than have to keep choosing people. The computer than congratulates them on being shining beacons of humanity and unlocks the vault door. Sadly they only made the right choice when there were five of them left, and are so appalled that they kill themselves to hide the shame of what they did from the world, which explains the weird audio log you got at the start.

Best vault ever.

Yeah, Vault-Tec and the government they collaborated with weren't very nice people.

You can also look at this video (CONTAINS SPOILERS):

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jyN_fmTeohg&feature=player_embedded

It shows you more or less the story and looks like a small movie. I really enjoyed it (after I get out of that vault)

P.D: in the first audio you can hear 5 people, but there are only 4 skeletons.
