Haven't got my new graphics card yet so my PC is bottlenecked hard by GPU.

The game said I should run on high, I laughed really hard and tried it for fun. Had horrid lag and just turned it down to lowest so I could get used more to game mechanics.
But tomorrow I'll probably turn it up to the highest settings or so, maybe less depending on FPS.

The people that told you that would only get medium must have been crazy.

I am not savvy at this at all, but i was suprised, to say the least. I was expecting to run on medium with lag. Damn it, guys. Let's rock and roll!

Wait hold on, you run ultra with a 4650M? That'd unexpected...

Is your screen resolution 1x1 or something? Or do you play with 0.1 FPS? :D

I run it on 1366x768. Max my laptop can have, apperently. And i don't know how t ocheck FPS, but it's smooth like hell, even smoother than the PS3.. Way, smoother.
And i dont want to be that guy who talks daft about other consoles, but it really made a difference to play it on the PC :sadvaultboy:

Honestly if that system runs it "smooth like hell" on ultra with that graphics card then the ps3 must run like complete [censored].

I have a hunch Bethesda assumed many PCs would be loaded with allot of stuff running in the background. AV software, chat programs, iTunes and stuff like that all running at the same time can really put a drain on system resources.

Personally I expect my old AMD dual core rig (2.6Ghz) with 2GB RAM, a GT430 and XP to run Skyrim just fine. It didn't even bat an eyelash with Mass Effect 2 on the highest settings.

I don't know if i should take this serious or not. Trying to avoid console wars here. And yes, i know my computer isn't a NASA lab, but it does quite fine! :sadvaultboy:

There also ain't any stuttering, lagging while in combat etc. So im damn happy right now!

If the command is the same as other Bethesda titles, you can see your fps by typing tdt into the console. I'm interested in knowing your FPS as my HD 5730M is pretty much even with your card. I'm getting the game tomorrow and would love to be at ease knowing this.

Nope. Tdt didn't work at all

I can understand people guessing "medium" since your specs are below the recommended for high. With nothing else to go on except the official requirements, it would have been stupid to tell you otherwise. I'm guessing your low resolution is what makes it possible though.

Tds = AI detection is on

Or something o.O
Edit: Odd that tdt doesn't work. You could try using Fraps or RadeonPro to see the FPS. If not, it's no biggie.

Of course you're skeptical. It's the rule of thumbs in these boards.

People told me i couldn't run Fallout 3 on Ultra, but i did, and even so.

Agreed, with PCs it is not all in the numbers per se. Some people who actually maintain their systems and keep it running with minimal bloatware and other crap, actually get much better performance out of their systems. You can free up so many resources by simply unloading all of those silly icons in your taskbar, all of the autostart programs that you never use, and using something like Ccleaner to clean up all of the junk files floating around. A good defrag every month is important too.

My former PC commonly got better benchmark scores than other computers that had better specs...just because I optimized it and kept it updated and efficient.

Try Gamebooster aswell. It's epic. It made my computer run 42% faster. :toughninja:

I should point out that it's been reported on the pc hardware issues that the game is not actually applying ultra settings, people are having to tweak the ini to get ultra.

Even so, i can't seem to belive there is a higher Frame rate, atleast. Since im running on what seems to be the top of the line at the moment. But i'll look into it!
