I expected much more depth out of this game.

The combat is fine, I wasn't expecting much out of Bethesda in this department anyway.

I just feel like there isn't as much content as there should be.
Ex: The cities seem lacking. Not enough shops, NPCs, etc. Windhelm is supposed to be a sanctuary for Dunmer after the events of Red Mountain. Why are there only like 5 in the entire town?

In no way do I think this game is horrible, I've been playing it non-stop since its release.

I just don't think it's up to par with what the finished product should have been. Especially after all that pre-game hype that I was gullible enough to believe.

Do any of you feel the same?

so anyone that is against your opinion is a troll then?

While I do agree with the sentiment on the "Cities" more like over glorified towns

Bethesda can always add new content via expansions/ DLCs

Todd howard has stated that they are planning on several large DLCs/expansions and not small ones.

Even the minor cities have vendors.

From what I read your standards are sky-high. Now off you go, making your expensive coffee that is the only correct sort.

30 ish hours into the game, still have 3 guild quest lines to do, a hand-full of other quests, missing dragon shout words, only at level 25, enormous amount of misc tasks, still haven't seen one major city, barely explored half of them. You either aren't talking to anyone at all or just refuse to see any non-main-storyline content as content.

Completely disagree. While certain things are disappointing i wouldn't call it a let down. It's still a great game that some people get so involved in what's wrong they don't have fun. Also though not that it's an excuse for Bethesda but the modders will make this game amazing.

Are you serious? All the flaws will be modded away as far as the Engine can handle. The flaws on the consoles won't ever be fixed, only minor stuff.

Yeah towns are really tiny , smaller than in Oblivion from what i can tell and Guild questlines are very short.A lot of reused books. Most of new content is misc tasks , which are very dull.We ware promised so much and yet a lot of it was just a lie , it's love/hate relationship with Todd for many of us gamers. :sadvaultboy:
Have my pessimism , but i love the game a lot.

I'm sort of with you and sort of not. I actually like the combat for whatever reason despite it's click, hold click mechanic. It's not so much the combat but what happens because of the combat.

Example - I'm with a Companion going against two bandits. We are on a slight elevation so I charge at the first bandit, jump over him, and immediately nail a critical hit and land an epic finishing move on him. I turn around to see how my Companion is doing only to see him thrust his sword into the other bandit, lift him off the ground, and pull it out.

The combination of music, me jumping over the first guy, and both of us doing our finishing maneuvers at almost the same time made for a very unique experience - almost like we had met in some corner and planned a strategy out beforehand.

-----

Is it a perfect game? No. It's possibly the most flawed greatest game of all time. And that's a good thing because there are so many minor things that can be fixed by Bethesda via DLC or patches.

I fully recognize the OPs opinion as valid. The OP had very high expectations and feels let down...sorry man.

However I had very high expectations for the game and my expectations were exceeded. I am 32 hours into the game and still have only seen 1/4th the map, 2 major cities, and done only 2 parts of the main quest. The dragon fights are just fantastic and icing on the cake. This game has made me feel things in a tangible way like no other. I have felt isolated and lonley while traveling in unkown places, cold and lost while traversing mountian peaks, excited and epic while fighting dragons on top of some rock out cropping. I find the cities to be as I expected them to be in the northern most part of the world where frigid cold weather and dangerous beasts lurk. Kind of like Alaska or Northern Canada.

Yeah, quick keys to inventory, map, journal, better graphics, surely a sign of a bad console port...

This is by far my favorite TES game thus far. Quite possibly one of my favorite games ever, period.

The landscape, environment, dungeons, combat, character development, dialogue, etc are easily the best in the series. It is one of the most immersive games I've ever played.

I don't know what people expected to be so let down, but I was expecting an amazing Elder Scrolls game, and I am beyond happy and will play this game for years to come.

Anyone who is complaining seems like they either don't really like open world RPG's or just didn't want a new Elder Scrolls game to begin with. It just blows my mind how you can say you loved Morrowind and Oblivion and aren't in complete awe with Skyrim.

Opinions! Opinion everywhere!
Game is not a big let down for me, I play on the pc too!.

I have never, in my life of gaming seen more whining about everything, even the little things than what I seen here. I have been through several MMO's launches and I most assuredly do not remember this much anguish over even the warhammer online billing scandal or the failure that was Rift.

I really petty the people working on TOR when it finally comes out.

Besides some minor bugs this is the best game I have played or beta tested all year, its the only game that everyone on my steam friends list is playing as well as almost everyone I know who has a PC or console.

I have not had a console in a long time, but I firmly think this is the GOTY for PC, maybe not console though.

Towns are smaller than oblivion? :shakehead: Get real.
Maybe the villages, but the main city's are just as large if not larger than any in Oblivion. The ones in Skyrim at least all have a style all to them own.
The dungeons are all great, its really shows how much they have improved over Oblivion.

C?ty's are big enough. What did you expect from Skyrim anyway? They are not center of Tamriel like Cyrodiil. Skyrim is a mountainous area with harsh cold climate and native folk they is used to that. Incase you didn't notice, Windhelm is racist part of Skyrim, yet they still have alot of Dunmer.

I can kind of see your point. Although the same could be said about Oblivion.

Unfortunately, bugs are a hallmark of the TES series. If you think this is bad you should have played Daggerfall. Parts were virtually unplayable due to bugs.

However, it DOES have a lot of content. An aweful lot. That's another hallmark of the TES series. It's a massive open ended world which doesn't force you on a set path. It's the most immersive RPG I I've ever played and I'm starting to find it seriously addictive. You have to take the bad with the good I guess.

What got me writing this reply is just this morning I was thinking of plugging in a 360 controller I have for PCs to see if it makes it easier to play.

However, they're not going to stop supporting consoles when the bulk of their revenue probably comes from console sales. Just be glad they're still supporting PCs.

This is the best game I have ever played, and only wish that there was more merchants to sell too, other than that, I find no faults with the game otherwise, best game to date for Bethesda.

That isn't the worlds smallest violin. Now I am let down by your post. Sadly the hype was too big and I got svcked into it. Also you have one hand on the bow but not a hand playing the strings on the neck that is terrible animations. The textures are washed out too. Your post is full of bugs. I am a victim of false promises like the OP.

Smoking the goods while playing this game makes it sooooooo much better, you want to fix all your problems thats my answer haha. Just calm down stop thinking so hard about the negative and embrace the positive. :toughninja:

You enjoy it for all the little fun and interesting things it holds.

You're quite right my friend.

I guess I was expecting a lot out of Bethesda.

I never said Skyrim was a bad game, just not what I had hoped it would be.
