Vid Card Question

Post » Wed Nov 28, 2012 3:18 am

I am trying to update my PC so that I can use the HD DLC and others.

Currently I have:

Windows Vista 32 bit
Intel Core 2 Quad Q6600
Dual Channel 4 MB DDR2
NVidia GeForce N250GTS Twin Frazr 1G
19" Standard monitor

So you can see it wouldn't take much to be a better system. The system I was looking at has:

Windows 8 64 bit
3rd Gen Intel Core i7-3770
8GB DDR3 memory
NVidia GeForce GT 620 2GB
(I will be updating to a 20-22 inch widescreen monitor)

Everything seems to be better, but my issue is the card. I looked it up and apparently the GeForce GT 620 card svcks. I have no idea why, but apparently everything out there is better from what I'm reading.

So now I'm scared to get the PC. Or should I be? Is the GT 620 really that bad? What else would you recommend for under $150?

Thanks.

I checked out the Graphic Card listing, but I don't see the GT 620 on it. The GT 640 is ranked in the high 80's, but I don't know if that means anything.

For general technical advice, such as the way that nVIDIA numbers things, the Tech Thread in the Community Forum is your correct place. Meanwhile, just BELIEVE it, that a GT 620 is just crap, from a games point of view, OK? Your old card is much better.
