Personally, it depends on the context it was used for, such as making it fit into the situation rather than some random jab or someone thinking it means something else. The NCIS episode that referenced http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JumfqhgkTSk
that went viral around the web made some bitter saying that the usage of the meme made no sense and thinking that the producers were trying to (as someone said on the forums a while back) "win some points" for saying that.
As someone who has been watching NCIS way before becoming a TES fan (or a PC gamer, at that), I understood it and thought it fit perfectly! The agent who said it (McGee) is referred jokingly as "McGeek" by DiNozzo because he is a nerd and gamer, which has been referenced in past episodes as well. As a matter of fact, there was an entire episode about him where part of the investigation was related to a fictional MMO game (Obviously it was fictional because they had to avoid copyright stuff

That is just the "good" part of it because it was used in the right context and not some random jab. I remember a few but cannot find any videos of it, and for tl;dr reasons I will just leave them out.
So, all that aside....What are your thoughts when you see good/bad video game references in other media? What have you seen?
It is morning, and still on coffee so I apologize if I didn't make sense, I tried to be as clear as possible
