I saw that you can build robots as companions. Do they affect the lone wanderer perk, or are they like Dogmeat?

They do affect and count against that perk, unlike Dogmeat, from my understanding.

Yeah. Lone wanderer perk won`t work with a robot companion.

Still... they are extremely useful compared to other old companions.

I use both dogmeat and robots... but not other companions because their weakness & inventory just annoy me.

While they affect the perk. Its worth it to me since you can get their carrying capacity up to 400 apparently.

Combined with the mister handy thruster leg replacement, which makes them better at getting around and not being in the way.

I will probably be using my own robots as companions from now on, unless I have some quest or story line readon to use others.

Useful how? I took Ada along for the radar beacons and she literally didn't damage a single enemy. Only took damage. She's as useless as Piper. The only companions that are helpful in my game are Danse, Nick (who I usually keep with me) and Strong. The others are either weak or don't do anything. Ada was basically a portable briefcase (storing my extra sh!t I couldn't carry without losing AP).

Yeah, they're just like other biped companions. Lone Wanderer doesn't apply when they're with you.

Properly set ADA is way stronger than any pre-exising companions.

Unless you equip your companions with extremely good weapon and ammos.

Robots have clean inventory and cost nothing to run. You need to build better robot if it`s not helping you anyhow.

Give your robots the right weapons and they'll become over-powered really, really fast.

She doesn't do anything at all. She doesn't attack at all. She literally just stands there while I shoot baddies and follows me around (sometimes). It isn't that she's underpowered, its that she doesn't do ANYTHING while we're under fire.

She doesn't do anything at all. She doesn't attack at all with the weapons I gave her. When I showed up and first met her, she was under fire from all the robots and was just standing there. I quickly finished them off with Lorenzos. She literally just stands there while I shoot baddies and follows me around (sometimes). It isn't that she's underpowered, its that she doesn't do ANYTHING while we're under fire. If she can be overpowered, what mods do you use? Not sure if I'll waste the materials to change her since she doesn't attack at all but hey, I'm super rich and swimming in materials so I guess I can spare the change. I wish I COULD activate her self-destruct.

You really need to turn this font down. There's no reason for it to be this big. It only comes off as agressive and really annoying.

Oh and you're wrong lol

Modded ADA is the strongest companion in the game. And she actively scouts ahead the second a blip on my radar comes up

The you're bugged cuz Ada is the only companion I've liked so far.

Must be. What mods do you have for her? May as well try something. I also don't have an option to mod Codsworth. I can only mod Curie and Ada. It isn't affinity because of the three, Codsworth would have the highest affinity. I've used Ada more then them all as a companion (I don't use robots as companions) so I can't figure out what is going on. I posted a thread asking about this Codsworth issue.

They count against the LW perk (and presumably also benefit from the CHR perks that boost companions but I don't have those so I wouldn't know for sure) but imo they can make up for it.

For exemple my "Scrap Queen" character has all 3 levels of LW, with her main robot along she might lose 100 carry weight but the robot has 400+ and she might lose 25% damage but the robot a missile launcher, an explosive minigun, a cluster bomb launcher and a fatman that all have infinite ammo. There's the 30% damage resistance that the robot doesn't directly make up for but he's still a second target that distracts enemies and let's be honest, past level 50 you don't really need much resistance.

Robots can use mini-nuke?

I must have missed out some parts during my DLC quest run... I gotta go back to few places and check.

You don't need to find the part, when you finish the questline it unlocks all robot mods. It's a torso mod on the Sentry body, one of the shoulder mounted weapons.
