Virtual Performers

Ages before a holographic Tupac Shakur took the stage with Doctor Dre...

Hatsune Miku was performing in front of tens of thousands of Japanese fans in full size 3D.

I've never been a big enough fan of the Gorillaz to see if they actually perform as holograms themselves.

Granted something like Hatsune Miku is either an aquired taste or more of a cultural bungie jump than many Western people are prepared to take but the technology seems absolutely facinating (she actually sings as a synthetic vocaloid - her voice is a sample which is then used to synthesize speech tones and inflections to create phonetic song).

What do you think of Virtual Talent yourself and can you put your finger on what the appeal is for Youth today?
