Volkihar Vampire wrote A Game at Dinner

So I was reading on UESP, and it says that Garan Marethi served as a member of House Dres. Now in the book A Game at Dinner, the anonymous author is a member of House Dres and also a servant to "Dhaunayne" who is the leader of the Aundae Vampires in Morrowind.

In Dawnguard, Marethi says that he is tired of the politics he experienced in House Dres. In A Game at Dinner, the anonymous author claims that he was greatly disturbed by Helseth's game, and requested that Dhaunayne relieve him of his service to House Dres.

I say they're the same person, and Bethesda just made an awesome reference to an awesome book through Garan Marethi.

I've never thought of that before... that's a pretty cool theory too!

Game at Dinner was that book where Helseth gets the one advisor to poison himself, yah? I love that one.

I knew about Aundae being a vampire and her reference being in the book. As long as he wasn't an Aunda member turned Volkihar, I am fine with anything else.

That's like what I thought when I found out a former member House Dres was with the Volkihar, although I assumed Marethi himself was too old to have dealt with Helseth. That would make him a bit over two centuries dead.

All the members of Clan Aundae proper were High Elves. So while they may have had connections in House Dres, they might not actually want to induct a Dark Elf into their clan. http://www.uesp.net/wiki/Morrowind:Galur_Rithari%27s_Papers_%28book%29 might have been accepted or even turned deliberately, but he may also have been a more expendable minion like the player character. What if the Aundae and the Volkihar had a working relationship at some point? Marethi could have been a gift or a traded token.

Marethi could have been a freelance vampire like Calvario in Morrowind. Because it's hard to infiltrate House Dres as anything other than a Dunmer. The idea of "expendable minion like the player character" sounds more right to me. Because I mean, you as the player character do reasonably significant tasks for them.

As for age, vampires DO live a long time. 300 years isn't so very long. Dunmer already live ~150 or so.

Dunmer that aren't extending their lives with like, void salts and muck and daedra spines and stuff. ;) But generally, normal Dunmer live around 100-150 years. Part of the curse, if I'm not mistaken.
